Burns pulled from UFC on FOX 28 for allegedly being 31 lbs over contracted weight

Imagine losing 1/6th of your body weight in 1 week without the assistance of anything "performance enhancing".

Then imagine taking a beating and getting KO'd the next day. Jesus Christ

186 days before a fight at 155 is crazy. Starting your cut there is one thing but losing 20% of your body weight in a fee days is insane. Even if he could, he should not be allowed to.

For reference, Tony and Khabib are in the 180s weeks out from fight day. Days out they're in the 160s. What Burns is trying is not normal.

My god, how it`s possible for a profesional athelete? Is there was a fighter who missed much more? Before weigh-ins
Thoughts?

I think a lot of MMA fans think that fighters cut down from their "walk around weight" to their foghting weight the days leading up to the fight. They don't. No LW is cutting 30+ pounds on fight week. Burns put himself in a situation where it was going to be extremely dangerous to his health for him to attempt to make the weight.

Some fighters used to cut near that or even more when IV's were allowed. Here's just one somewhat recent example and IV's were banned long before this: https://www.mmafighting.com/2017/7/...than-18-percent-above-weight-class-at-ufc-214

Edit: Same commission(California) in all three articles that have been posted to this thread. Is it only CA implementing this so far?
