Can Shevchenko ever beat Nunes?

Pretty low chance.

In the first fight, Nunes was aggressive and beat Shevchenko up pretty good for two rounds. Shevchenko won a round point fighting because Nunes got tired.

In the second fight Nunes beat Shevchenko at her own game. A patient point fighting match. She dialed down the volume to Shevchenko's level and still out struck her in terms of quality and quantity in the first three rounds.

Shev can't take her down, can't lead, doesn't have the power or aggression to make any kind of fight changing strikes land, never throws enough volume to win on striking alone, never pushes the pace so her cardio advantage is never relevant as long as Nunes paces herself.

Very good post. I agree with you, which is sad cause I am a Shevchenko fan.

Quality and quantity with pitter patter leg kicks? She dialed it down because she was afraid of gassing and having it pick up where the last fight ended except this time Shevchenko has 2 more rounds to work. Anytime she came forward outside of tapping with her leg kicks she got countered. Shevchenko doesn’t have to lead because her defense and countering > useless aggression. Did you happen to have Wilder wide over Fury just because Wilder moved forward?

two close fights so yeah she could probably beat her... why would nunes agree to fight her again though?

She outstruck Nunes 4/5 rounds and here in these short clips you can see each round excluding the 1st and 4th (as all 3 judges agrees Shevchenko won the 4th and Nunes the 1st) broken down and you can see each strike thrown.

At worst Shevchenko won 3/5 RDs if you wanna give Nunes the 1st and the 5th where she got the TD despite being outstruck before hand and even taking elbows from the bottom while doing nothing else.

Does Nunes get to back-out anytime she doesnt feel 100% for any reason, mere hours before they fight again?

Nunes landed better head punches and overall strikes in the first three rounds.

Yes that is why she dialed it down, and it worked because Shevchenko did absolutely nothing to push the pace.

She did not get countered any time she came forward and Shevchenko's punch accuracy stat reflects that (it's not a very high number)

She does have to lead if she wants to win the fight, because the only way she wins is making Nunes tired. Hence the fact that she didn't lead and lost the fight. She doesn't have to lead exclusively but standing around waiting gives all the initiative and control to Nunes.

Comparing that trash performance to Fury's beautiful boxing is a huge insult to Fury. Fury took initiative and landed punches in combination. Shevchenko just stood there and threw one punch at a time. The comparison that should be made is to Wonderboy against Woodley. Both fighters had the potential to make something happen but were too risk averse and let their chance slip away.
