If you're no-gi you can transist from an Americana to an Ezekiel very quickly.

From mount. Sometimes hard to finish but transition to side control and they will tap.

Don't think I've ever finished a pure Americana from mount, have done from side control.

Wait what? You need the arm under the neck for Ezekiel , that’s not present in an Americana.

Some people use the variant that starts with the arm under the bottom guys head, then pin the wrist with the other hand, pass it across, lock it up and un-loop your arm from around their head to finish. It stops the bottom guy powering out of the Americana because they push against their own head whilst you get it locked on.

So it’s a short step from there if they defend it.
