Social Cannabis Legalized in Canada: Nation-Wide Shortage For Years To Come As Demand Overwhelms Supply

I take your point re; overpaid.

So I'll word it this was: the LCBO workers are over compensated when compared to the current private sector market place in Ontario.
I get you, but why is this an issue with the LCBO and not the private sector? We at the Beer Store hate them for the reasons you listed, not that we don't make those union dollars to be fair.

Its an issue for me b/c I believe free market > public/govt sector in non-public good services. The govt has no business in alcohol, tobacco, car, groceries etc sales.

I think they are paid adequately.

I just got back from Colorado. Spent some time hiking, some in Boulder, some in Denver.

Did not smell nearly as much weed just out in public as I thought I would. Was nice. Few big whiffs as someone walked past a couple times of course, but that was it

lol alcohol is sold by the goverment? That's weird as fuck. Do they have their own stores? Do they make it also or just by it from other companies?

My state controls and sells all liquor. We have ABC stores (run by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board) everywhere. You can sell from a private business, but you must buy it from the state first. The state doesn't make any product. They just buy it from the distributor and then markup and tax the shit out of it. A $70 bottle of bourbon straight from a distillery would cost you $104 at the Government store.

See the amazing things that can happen when your country isn't half filled with fearful, regressive rednecks?

Common sense policies that everyone knows are common sense can actually get passed.

Good for you Canada.

Racist.

Nah... Yalls rednecks dont vote.
Complete opposite of our problem...
ours vote too gotdamn much!

Tell us your secret?

The secret is severe brainwashing.

Maybe a few lcbos should be open later?

2am seems pretty excessive though.

I worked in a 2am liquor store in college here in Alberta. Tons of people come in betweem 10 and 2. Lots of people in the bar industry and other jobs that work late.

I don't mind paying a dollar or two more for a bottle of wine if it means people have decent paying jobs with vacation and benefits.

The LCBO also makes about 2 billion a year. So, big profits, great jobs, great selection... I have no complaints!

The selection at private stores here in Alberta blows the LCBO out of the water.

Liquor store I worked at was the size of a safeway store.

I opened a position with Cowen bank about a month ago. We'll see what happens. <{jackyeah}>

I’m glad that most landlords are putting restrictions in place. Imagine having to smell your neighbour’s smoke every day.

Didn't even know this was a thing outside Canada. Interesting.

Definitely something I don't miss about PA. Nice thing though was the less than half hour drive across the border for tax-free shopping in Delaware. Every few months we'd go drop about $750 at this supermarket of a liquor store.

Unlike like socialist blanket views on the matter, it wouldnt be major corporations who benefit but small business starts ups who could open small scale stores to provide service and gain revenue. Its weird that the government is so keen on running on monopoly on this vice but not others

That's what I loved about living in that area you could barely drive at all and cross like 3 states. I live in Texas now and depending on which way I go it can take me 13-14 hours just to get out.

Also interesting the take provinces are taking on it with the east side taking a stricter approach with no smoking outside of your own property and the west coast regulating consumption like tobbacco

Ontario will have a battle with that as they are not allowing consumption outside of your own property, but if landlords don't allow tenants to smoke in apartments, it may result is the poverty potheads to finally get motivated about something.

It will be interesting for sure to see how it all unfolds.

Here in Nunavut, no stores (private or government owned) places can sell, people here will have to use the Federal governments website to order until the territorial government figures out how they want to do this.
No retail sales in Ontario until April either. WebWeed only.

My bad about no cold beer, but the 2 groceries near me offer no cold beer.

How do you know the price is good? There is no competition. I do know wine in Quebec is cheaper and pretty much all booze in the US is wwwaaayyyy cheaper.

The hours suck. You want to grab a 6 pack after the leaf's game or a late movie on the way home ... no dice.

A friend stops buy at 9pm on a sunday night to watch the pats spank the chiefs, no dice. No running out to the corner store.
Dude. You need to think outside the box. I'm in Muskoka and I can get cold beer til 11pm 7 nights a week, even holidays. buy direct from the breweries.
