car insurance

$150 a month for my 2016 Jetta. Stupid Toronto prices. :(

got quoted at 65 a month from geico on a 2006 accord (yes im poor). clean record, and im like almsot 40. this seems high, is this high?

What coverage? I have 2 vehicles, a 1999 and a 2006 covered at $500,000 liability and $500 deductible on comp and collision for $695/ year total.

1999 and 2006 vehicles probably don't have much of a value.

i had a 2004 VW which was valued at 500-700. So I took the comprehensive collision off the policy to make the insurance cheaper since if the car was totaled I would have to pay the $500 deductible for a car that is worth about the same.

Car Insurance is a scam, I just keep 50 bucks in my glove box in case of an accident.

You don't have to pay anything. It is difficult to find a running vehicle for under $2000 anymore. In the US, you aren't required to take what the insurance company values the vehicle at. You can have them find a replacement. A quick search finds 2003 to 2005 VWs with 144,000 miles at $1500 and 50,000 miles at $4,900.

I've checked for vehicles like mine with similar mileage and they are difficult to find and prices are in the $4,000 range so I feel it's worth having the comprehensive and collision coverage even with the $1000 deductible. I could cut it down by $200/year by dropping comp and collision but I could be out $5000 if something happens.

Thats good-average. You probably can't find anything lower.

Do you get your insurance in Ontario from a private company or is it like Manitoba?

Ontario is private.

You pay differently depending on where you live, where you park, age, how far your drive to work is, etc...

Plus you have to get emissions testing in Southern Ontario.
