But streaming is still doing better than the other ones

Digital downloads had a short run as the top-selling format in the music industry. It took until 2011, a decade after the original iPod came out, for their sales surpass those of CDs and vinyl records, and they were overtaken by music streaming services just a few years later.

Now, digital downloads are once again being outsold by CDs and vinyl, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Never thought that would ever happen.

Didn't see that one coming either. I thought nobody "bought" music anymore and just used streaming services. Like with most things hipsters are probably to blame.

My CD collection is dominant. Used to have a really nice vinyl one too

There's something to be said for having a hard copy of all your shit imo

I get a lot of songs digitally now, but it's hard to find mp3's of some of the music I'm into, so I'll buy the CD, rip it to my computer, and sync it to my mp3 player.

That's because those assclowns still don't have a convenient online store with moderate prices for lossless music.
When Steam came out I stopped buying game cd's/dvd's and pirating, and buy games there.
If they had something like Steam for music, their sells will go much higher. Also many music stores don't have regional pricing policies, which leads to music being too expensive to buy, hence massive pirating.

I find the streaming services don't have the selection of rarer stuff that i like.

Good. They sound better too.

Now I'm just waiting for people to start caring about sound quality as much as they do about picture quality.

I would much rather have a CD with artwork than anything else.

I have a pretty large music collection, with 99.9% legally owned.

I used to just buy used CDs and rip them, now I buy a lot of my music on Amazon.

Most of it for around $5 per album, which is a fair price imo.

The music industry blew it with digital music.

I'm surprised about the CD thing.. but not with the vinyl... that always seems to have a hipster following.

What do you like more: electric heating or a campfire.

That’s why people buy vinyl I guess.
