I think it depends on if the parents had a previous criminal record or not, some of the kids also came alone apparently trying to get to their parents who were already in America.

Listen if you want to deport "illigals" from your country do it, and send them back with their children goddamit, why fucking separate them? why? what the f**k is going on?

Because you have to prosecute the illegals and you can't lock up children with adults in jail. That also happens with citizens. If you're an american parent and you get arrested and your children has nowhere else to go the authorities will need to place your children somewhere.
It's harsh but policy shouldn't be dictated by emotions. The rule of law should be followed.
I believe these children should be sent back ASAP to their home countries to an appropriate caretaker like a grandparent or older sibling, for what it's worth.
The fault lies mostly with their piece of shit parents that are bringing small children to cross a border illegally.
