College Stories: Weird Stuff You Were Taught In College

I learned that female circumcision was a thing (that shit really disturbed me) and how the advertising industry is built on pornographic archetypes.

I also learned how to make a pipe from almost any common household object and a pen.

Its female genital mutilation.

not college but med school.. but some retard physician started spouting about how HIV didn't lead to AIDS... he was promptly reprimanded by the higher ups..

"All the same stuff happens in the suburbs of Detroit, as Detroit, but the media reports it differently."

Seriously.

I don't recall ever learning something that I thought was strange. I also cannot think of a single professor that I had in college in either my bachelors or Masters degree program that made any political comments whatsoever. If any of them did, I certainly don't remember it.

I distinctly remember a history class in college, where on the first day the prof said it's impossible to teach history without a bias so he would be taking an anti-US perspective. Great class in the end.

In my return to school as an old fuck, I haven't come across any notably weird things in my 3 years. I did have an English class that required less than 10 hours of total work. That was pretty ridiculous. The prof did one lecture, another two periods explaining assignments, and spent the rest of the semester bullshitting with us about art, politics and comedy. It was a complete waste of everyone's time, but I didn't mind.

I took a late 19th century US history class hoping to get a nice dose of industrialism, but the teacher focused only on women in that period.

It wasnt a womans history class but since she felt they are under represented, that's what it was about.

Fucking sucked.

I was taught attending is bullshit and dropping out was the best thing I ever did..

My American Military History Professor taught us that Hitler was misunderstood and you need to view the war through his perspective.

That is literally the best mindset to have if you want to understand the reality of our world.

History is written by the winners. Well, history is written by the wealthy and powerful who control our media and our educational system. They have an agenda, and the agenda has nothing to do with truth.

Oh neat a Hitler fan. LOL. Nazi Germany through WW2 is the antithesis of the "history is written by the winners" trope. It's by far the most well-studied and fully-sourced part of world history.

Perhaps it is well studied, but that does not mean the school children have access to all them studies, and most adults probably not care enough to dig further, and just go with what is presented to them for free, with the presenters only interested in furthering their preferred narrative.

I had a teacher in high school social studies tell us that she believed Hitler was possessed by a demon.
