How the fuck does Cormier gain 31 lbs in 36 hours? Is there something i'm missing?

He has one of the largest weight cuts (percentage-wise) in UFC history, it's not the norm.

You, my man, have a black belt in Google Fu. I salute you.

The inconsistent 15 lb jump from LW to WW causes too many problems. They seriously need to readjust the existing weights, instead of introducing a new 165 class.

They should raise all the weights below WW by 5 lbs.
130 FLW
140 BW
150 FW
160 LW
170 WW
That way the lineage stays the same, but the weight cut for LWs is far more manageable and you get less fights getting screwed over. It also increases the talent pool for FLW which is needed.

Cyborg 170??? That can't be right.

3 days after fighting, Cyborg posted a picture of herself weighing 175 lbs:

Must be thick bones.

But doesn't mean that's her cage weight if it's 3 days later. Fighters must eat their ass out after their fights. And the source material doesn't show that to be true either.

How does tj outweight garbrandt...

No, her cage weight 3 days earlier was 170 lbs, which is what I listed in the original post (and what Cyborg herself stated in the article); the fact that she weighed 175 lbs three days after fighting corroborates this.

Raising every weight class by 5 pounds won't do a thing to weight cutting. Yes, it might make it easier for a few guys to who will get to make 160 instead of 155, but it will also lead to more guys who were fighting at 170 that will now attempt to make 160. And there would be guys who were making 155 that would then try to drop to 150.

Weres your info coming from
How could you miss the fact that all of the numbers have links to the source?

Hydration tests added to weigh ins would be the only solution.

I disagree completely, there's a lot of people who struggle making 155 who are already stuck in-between 2 weights. The guys who pass over 170 for 160 still have 2 options now. The one's stuck between 155-170 don't. I don't care about weight-cutting as much as I care about fights and titlefights NOT being cancelled. Raising the weights by 5 lbs does more good than not doing anything or introducing a 165 lb division.

The guys competing at 170 are in their 180s, the chances of them trying to fight 160 are slim. But the guys at 155 are in their 170s and fitting into 160 (instead of 155) helps a lot.

They get cancelled because of weight cutting. If you eliminate weight cutting you eliminate most fights becoming catchweight/cancelled.
