Floyd doesn’t have a lot of speed or power or a good defense. He’s just composed

He is a two-time champion because he instantly got a title fight in a higher division (where his opponent was smaller than he was) and then never defended this title.

Eddie Alvarez is a complete bad ass and a great win for Connor.

You know who’s done that to Eddie Alvarez in his long fight career? Only Conor.
Eddie has a great chin and recovery and a credit it conor for that performance.

I along with the majority of sherdog was picking Eddie.

But now it’s spun as some weird bizarre narrative that Alvarez is tiny and bad at fighting.

Did you watch eddies last fight?

Performances like that aren’t unique
To that fight. When Eddie is in bad spots
He gets through them.
Before the conor fight and after.

Alvarez has a shitty chin and great recovery. Similar to a guy like Hassan N'Dam. Also, the majority of sherdog (as well as the betting community) weren't choosing Alvarez.

Taking a shot and recovering from a shot goes hand in hand.
Another thing that falls into that category is heart. Not finding a soft spot to ball up and quit.

I know what you’re saying and I hear that a lot on here.

If you never have,Put on some gloves and you can see first hand for yourself

I've boxed plenty in my life, and I know the difference. If you're regularly rocked and floored (and Alvarez has been floored regularly throughout his career by a great variety of fighters), then you don't have a great chin. Again, it's very similar to Hassan N'Dam. No one would ever say he has a great chin (both Lemieux and Quillin had him on the deck 5 times, and N'Dam was genuinely hurt each time; these weren't instances where he was just off balance), but he does recover from getting floored very well (which is partially down to conditioning, heart, and I guess just a natural ability to recover quickly).

What McGregor did to Alvarez was very impressive and it highlights McGregor's strengths. He is probably the best counter striker in the sport, and early in a fight, he tends to be very good. I actually give him a reasonable chance against Ferguson for this reason (because Ferguson is extremely hittable, especially early) and even a bit of a chance against Khabib as Khabib is very much there to be hit, as well. That doesn't change the fact that Alvarez was a good stylistic matchup for McGregor, or that McGregor doesn't have very significant flaws of his own.

I agree with you on about everything you said.

I disagree about Eddie having a shitty chin. If Eddie had a bad chin you would see him get kod. At least once in awhile.

A guy like Jonathan goulet has a shitty chin. As he gets hit he goes down and can’t get up.

Getting hurt or dropped especially in mma doesn’t mean you have a weak chin. There are so many more variables to getting dropped in an mma fight.

Every mma fighter I’ve ever seen has flaws.
Bones is about a perfect fighter but you could say well he hasn’t shown anything off his back. His boxing isn’t great. Etc.

Well, yeah, no one is perfect, but I mean readily exploitable flaws. Perhaps shitty chin is a tad harsh, but Alvarez doesn't have a good chin, nor is he particularly responsible defensively, especially early in a fight. It's why Alvarez was a fairly good matchup for McGregor.

So you’re saying Alvarez has a bad chin. Despite winning many knock down drag out wars and not being knocked out besides Connor and an early stoppage when he started out.

I think your standards of a good chin are a bit unrealistic.
There would be only a couple fighters who would have a good chin by your standards.

If you are dropped by a punch and the opponent continues to bombard you with punches for a min or two and you work your way to your feet.
Would you say that guy has a bad chin?

Or would his recovery bar fill up fast enough to make up for his bad chin even though he’s still getting punched the entire time?

Alvarez hasn't really won any wars against genuinely good strikers. Chandler had him badly hurt many times and had him essentially out before he subbed him in their first fight. Chandler has a good punch, but he's not what I'd call a particularly good striker. Kawajiri used to have a bit of power on the feet, as well, but again, not what I'd call a particularly good striker. The Gaethje fight was more of just a beat down than anything else (and I'd probably stop well short of calling Gaethje a good striker). He's a really tough guy who has regularly gotten hurt in his career, often times against guys who aren't really punchers or particularly gifted strikers. When he does get hurt, he recovers very well, but he the fact that he does regularly get hurt indicates that his chin is, at best, average.

Again, he's similar to guy like Hassan N'Dam in boxing. No one would say that N'Dam has a good chin. They'd say that he has a ton of heart, great recovery, and very good stamina, but not that he has a good chin. The fact that Alvarez is hittable and prone to be hit and hurt early in fights made him a good matchup for McGregor who is maybe the best counter puncher in the sport and is a very fast starter.

if they weigh the same at weigh ins, they are the same size...see how that goes...how much you weight on a specific day, means you're that weight...all fighters cut weight...

Must've been hacked. It's not like Conor to manipulate pictures/footage to create a false narrative and portray himself in a strong light. Conor isn't some disingenuous, deceitful snake in the grass, you know.

Mayweather didn't decide anything...he banked on the idea of conor gassing...and conor did...the first 4 rounds, were conor's...then when floyd noticed conor slowing down and gassing, that's when floyd began going after him...
So do you feel Floyd was getting out boxed until Conor gassed? Or was he just letting him burn himself out? Serious question. Hypothetically if Conor could keep the pace could he could beat Floyd comfortably? Or if Conor didn’t have known cardio issues do you think Floyd would use a different strategy ?

No..I don't think conor would ever beat floyd...I think in the beginning rounds, conor was much faster and hit harder and caught floyd with some punches...so I think floyd maybe sat back a bit...knowing conor is aggressive and throws alot.. I think he was planning that all along...If conor didn't gas, I think it just would have went to decision and floyd would have won comfortably...

Interesting you think Conor was faster .so as Floyd lost the first few rounds and only turned it up when Conor gassed then what do you think would’ve been his path to a decision win if Conor hadn’t gassed ?

Every fight is strategy...I think floyd was banking on conor gassing...If for some reason conor didn't gas...then floyd would have did whatever he had to do...go after him. which is what he did anyways...but the slower conor got, the more floyd went after him..floyd saw how conor fights...he saw how he got tired against nate...how conor can be very aggressive...so he knew conor would gas.
