Consider the greatness of Roy Jones Jr.

Roy Jones Jr in his prime was perhaps the greatest talent boxing has ever seen. He'd be favored against all you mentioned. Would probably win all of them too.

Interesting how many discredit advanced drug testing but then cry about cheats in the game...

A Roy in the era of advanced drug, to be fair, might not have been the same. Testing out 45-60 days out for major title fights is post 2000’s. That wasn’t even around back then...

Bob Arum didn’t allow Pac to do advanced drug testing for the initial Floyd “negotiations.” it’s all well documented in boxing drama.
But everyone had potential access to the same PEDs and same lack of drug testing. It was just part of the time and it's not like everyone else was tested except for him. Why should Roy get all the criticism just for being better?

But it will make someone better than they are.
no. it maximizes your potential and that’s even if you decide to train as much as it allows you to. plus exactly what @City_Lights said. if we assume roy was on something, we might as well assume everyone is which levels the playing field

But it will make someone better than they are.
so will training, nutritionn , vitamins, rest , its just another potential edge...they dont make up for technique or character.

shouldnt even be tested for imo they only are so naive people can have their delusions of drug free rolemodels

It makes you better than you are. That's not debatable.

they’re all playing football and basketball.

roy’s a legit freak athlete & a mental sponge who likely could have been a star WR/RB in the NFL or PG/SG in the NBA if those were his sport of choice. he is without a doubt the most athletic boxer ever seen since fights started being taped. mayweather/tyson are freak athletes as well but not to the degree of roy, imo.

hang on- most athletic how? how are you quantifying that?

I swear some of you have never trained a single day in your life.

Have you had days where you pushed yourselves so hard in the gym you just couldn't do shit the next day? Have you ever had to take a few days off because if you didn't, you'd injure yourselves and be out for good?

Why do you think athletes take PEDs to begin with? To look like bodybuilders? Some PED users aren't even ripped. The main reason to take PEDs is to recover faster so you can train hard for 10 hours a day instead of 5 hours a day and not die.

Now do you know what's the most important thing for a fighter? TRAINING. Someone who has trained his whole life will beat the shit out of somebody who has never trained. It doesn't matter if the other guy is bigger, faster, stronger or has a longer reach.

Being able to train more is a very, very big deal. If you train 6 days a week and get 5 more hours of training a day, that's 30 more hours a week, 150 more hours a month, 1.825 more hours a year and 18.250 more hours over the course of 10 year.

we both literally fucking said that lmao

by looking at someone, seeing how fast they move their body and react to the world around them.

By looking at someone...that's not really a measurement.

Also alot of talk about 'RJJ in his prime'- he is only 3 years older than Joe Calzaghe...and we know how that turned out. Zero excuses.

Nice try. A guy said PEDs made you better and you said no and tried to justify your awful opinion with nonsense. Thousands of hours of training WILL in fact make somebody better. Deal with it.
