As the title says a couple days ago I was talking about fighters who you just cant bet on cus you never know which version of him shows up....Specifically we were talking about Tim Boetsch and the like, Im just giving 3 examples of fights people didnt think they would win and fights people thought should have been cake...im also trying to avoid fighters who have just gone straight down hill IE Paulo Filho after his second bout with Sonnen

Boetsch was the first to come up
W: Hendricks/Tavares/Lombard
L: Herman/Leites/Philippou

Masvidal though he seems to be putting it all together lately
W: Cerrone/Ellenberger/Chisea
L: Iaquinta/Palomino/Imada

Maximo Blanco far and away his own worst enemy
W: Damm/Hooker/Ogle~
L: Healy/Brimmage/Sanders

Iuri Alcantara I really dont know what happened to this guy
W: Pickett/Doane/Reis
L: Kelleher/Saenz/Dias

Matt Brown I think epitomizes this trope
W: Thompson/Swick/Pyle
L: Bacynski/Foster/Ellenberger

Palhares another Brazilian who cant handle his temper and appears to be the next Filho
W: Shields/Fitch/Pierce
L: Materla/Meek/Belcher

Overeem,

A breeze entering the arena could KO him, he is the embodiment of a glass cannon - just can't bet on him.

He's not inconsistent.
He always has a Hail Mary chance, he's very durable and capitalizes on mistakes.
Fighters like these will always surprise.

Masvidal though he seems to be putting it all together lately
W: Cerrone/Ellenberger/Chisea
L: Iaquinta/Palomino/Imada

He used to be undisciplined, cruising to decisions when he thought he 100% won. Overall counter-striking style will always stay problematic in the eyes of the judges.

Just did not live to his potential. Reached what he could do.
Never achieved anything special.

Iuri Alcantara I really dont know what happened to this guy
W: Pickett/Doane/Reis
L: Kelleher/Saenz/Dias

This one is clearly over banned substances.
Thought that his size will help him in BW. That doen't happen.
VERY overrated.

Matt Brown I think epitomizes this trope
W: Thompson/Swick/Pyle
L: Bacynski/Foster/Ellenberger

This one I can agree with.
He should thank his mentor Hume for revitalizing his career and making him use his potential, but the ceiling has been reached.

Palhares another Brazilian who cant handle his temper and appears to be the next Filho
W: Shields/Fitch/Pierce
L: Materla/Meek/Belcher

This one just gets KOd when an opponent is a relatively good striker.
And recently - when an opponent has a decent punch.

Masvidal should've won against Iaquinta. Palhares isn't inconsistent, he just can't win every fight lol his gameplan is simple..

Rick Story

Wins over

Johnny Hendricks
Thiago Alves
Gunnar Nelson
Tarrec Saffiedine

Loses to

Mike Pyle
Charlie Brenneman

some good examples here Rick Story and Reem for sure......Cerrone almost I wanna see how he does against his next guy before making a true statement but he's seems to be on a down slope

I mean....I guess it depends on your definition of inconsistent.

As far as "I have no idea if this guy is gonna destroy, or get destroyed" then there are quite a few.
Off the top of my head....

-Overeem
-Arlovski
-Rumble
-Pettis
-Vitor

I guess I just think a guy who got second place at freaking adcc could do more than rely on leg locks.

well that has been his thing since forever, if the guy can defend it he's in a big disadvantage..

Michael Johnson

Losses to Reza Madadi, Paul Sass, Jonathan Brookins

Wins over Tony Ferguson, Edson Barboza, Dustin Poirier
