Cops arrest 2 black men for no reason in Starbucks

I can't believe there isnt a thread on this, but I looked. If I missed it, feel free to delete.

This is pretty insane right here. And also the reason why blacks worried about racism shouldnt turn EVERYTHING into a racial issue. This here is obviously racism at work and there is nothing that can defend this unless there is a lot missing to the story. But considering other patrons came to their aid, it seems not likely. Stick to cases like that, and most rational people will have your back.

So these dudes got the cops called on them because they had not ordered anything, and got arrested for it. They said they hadnt ordered because they were waiting for a friend (who showed up while the police were there). And correct me if I am wrong, but Starbucks basically encourages people to come hang out there, ordering or not. People go and sit there all day working on their laptops.

The manager who called the cops needs to be fired. And the guys need a nice 5 figure settlement out of this. These are the causes we should get behind, not some dumb as criminal who may or may not have been shot one extra time

They were loitering...but because they are black they use the race card....blacks should be able to loiter...cause it's racist to tell them they can't.

When you are flying and traveling across the country you pretty much only have your hotel room and any other available place.

I can tell you don't travel a whole lot.

Actually, anyone well traveled knows how to prepare for such things. And it isn't like an airport doesn't have hotspots and charging areas.

I mean, unless you are a poor person traveling.. aka a vagabond or some train riding bum.

They do it for attention...they know they’ll make the news.

Black people are kinda like Jews in the sense they always come back to their own historic struggles minus the Jewish family culture, high IQs, educational background, dislike for thug culture, and pretty much anything else that has made Jews so successful

Holy fucking shit bro................

yea, you were in a mall. i am SURE that is the entire story.

"i was there in a mall during operating hours being normal and was told to leave!" yea, ok

Depending on the area and him being a teenager, I'd believe it. Some malls starting banning unaccompanied teens from loitering to cut down on fights back in the late 80's/early 90s

Say I travel somewhere for an entire week.. out of that week I am only in the airport for a couple hours lol

I guess you just know better than the billion dollar corporations that provide these services because they know consumers need/want them.

Never been to a Starbucks, but I've certainly been to the sort of independent Cafes which they were supposedly trying to imitate and commercialise.
If you can't sit down and wait for a mate without being pestered to buy something or asked to move on, that's a fail. Admittedly most of your traditional cafes have outdoor seating and aren't crammed into airports, hospitals and service stations serving "coffee" flavoured slushies.

It depends on the context though. Were they sitting for a long time? Was it crowded with people waiting for a table? If none of that applied, I agree with you, otherwise they were being kinda assholes...

Yeah, can't really tell how long they were there from the story/video, but it doesn't look like it was crowded or busy.

Do you never go to an office, a hotel, or at least a place you are purchasing something from? Do you not go to lunch or dinner, or have a place to cook food, that has an outlet?

If you know you are gone for a week at a time, how are you so unprepared that you have to use the bathroom or outlet/wifi at a place you aren't even at for work or purchasing food?

Starbucks is a den for liberals. Esp. white liberals. This is what they do.

Yes - you were the one questioning why people go to places other than home/their car to use wifi and charge phones, not me lol

I usually buy something if I do, but I don't think it's that rare for people to do it and not buy something. Could just be waiting somewhere for 10-15 minutes and not want to order food, coffee etc.

Thanks for your input, I'm sure mommy and daddy take good care of you, look me up when you understand how the real world works, till then keep enjoying south park.
Derp

Bloody hell , these fucking guys lol

Honestly, I’m at a loss for how this has captured everyone’s attention so bigly. Assuming the worst case for Starbucks/best case for the dudes, it’s still just a racist Starbucks manager who should be fired.

You're right.... they have such a great culture.. are very polite and don't have a violent nature in the slightest. They are pillars of the scientific and mathematics communities. Their contributions to this world are huge... they are just victims of the white mans racist ways... these two innocent kids deserve a huge payout because they were victims of this atrocious racism

I'll treat every person the same regardless of race.

I won't ever judge a person soley I theie race.

But yes I am smart enough to know there are differences on the races. If you call that racist then fine
I don't call that racist , that is racist .

Just own it if that's what you believe , it's an anonymous forum after all .

Right or wrong and I don't go to Starbucks I don't know how common it is to just hang out.
If you're in establishment and you're not ordering and they asked you to order or leave. it is what it is.

So legally no problems......
Now the question is did they call the police because they were black? We can speculate.

My thought is manager wanted them to leave (not arrested) and that's what they called the police. (I bet there is a starbucks policy) The police took the unnecessary step of arresting them. I blame the police for cuffing them if they could have just required them to leave.

Probably because it's the polar opposite of the corporate image Starbucks tries to present.

I picture the manager as Michael Bolton in Office Space, covertly locking his doors as a black walks by.
I see him deadbolting himself in his office, desk pushed to the door, as he peers through the blinds, quietly speaking to 911 as to not be heard, perspiration glistening on his pasty white skin, other hand on a fire extinguisher.
Thats sort of racist. Tell me what you know of the manager other than a couple of black guys got arrested in his place of employment.

----

You know, I saw a headline on this story after discussing this thread and it was something along the lines of "outrage as 2 black men arrested at starbucks" and I realized how scarily accurate that statement is. Still no confirmation on why they were removed but just the idea of 2 black guys getting arrested is considered eyebrow raising. Like there couldn't possibly be any legit reason for it.

Ok, but why do we care? Let’s say it is as you say, Its still just one manager, in one store, in one city, who may have gone against their “model” and asked someone to leave he shouldn’t have. National news and dozens of Sherpages?

Now you are now saying you generally have a place to charge your phone and wifi, and if you have to go somewhere, you usually buy something? I mean, I would say you are pretty trashy if you make a habit of going any not purchasing something. Which brings me back to my original point.

Why are there so many sherdog posters going into places any not buying anything to use wifi and charge phones?

Are you literally homeless? Creepers up in here.

Because, if you read the first few pages of the thread, people were acting like just hanging around to use wifi and bathrooms, without purchasing anything, is a normal practice of sorts. As if there are several people at a time in Starbucks just there to chill, without the purchase of something. Just because it is a business model of a "third space", I don't think they intend a free lounge.

So I don't know how you got to assuming I don't go out much or travel.
