Yes especially after a really brutal fight I get that same guilty feeling after watching porn.
...Your Favorite Fighters Health? I guess I'm sort of scared of the day where most if not all the fighters we loved watching perform and that inspired us have some sort of mental health repercussions from fighting.
I was watching the Gary Goodridge interview video in the other thread about cte in fighters and it made me very sad, but in a bittersweet way because Gary seems at peace with it and he knows it was worth it for the glory. I fear not all fighters will take it as well as he seems to be. I know it will be really hard when it becomes obvious in one of my favorite fighters.
This is all easy to avoid if you just watch the fights and don't get involved in the mma community beyond that, but I'm invested deeply with watching interviews and following most of the ufc fighters social media, as well as invested on a local level and knowing some personally.
Anyone else feel this way and have worries? Please inb4 "you're following the wrong sport if that worries you, ect" Part of what makes mma great is getting invested in the fighters and caring about their health to a certain degree.
Yes, I want Thiago Alves, Deigo Sanchez and Rashad Evans to all retire. You wouldn't notice much of a difference from Sanchez these days but I still want to see these guys at least appear to be normal.

Unrelated but saw this and wanted to share:

Meh, plenty of guys have taken way more damage than dcDC, for sure.
Dude has a granite chin, but has taken some HUGE shots from Juicehead Jones, Rumble & Gus.
Now he's fighting Stipe.
How do you feel about the well being of actual veterans?...Your Favorite Fighters Health? I guess I'm sort of scared of the day where most if not all the fighters we loved watching perform and that inspired us have some sort of mental health repercussions from fighting.

I just got done watching the 30 for 30: Muhammad and Larrry where they show Ali at 38 two years after the 2nd Leon Spinks where he was coming back to fight Larry Holmes for the HW title. Ali was already showing signs that something was wrong but everyone over looked it because of who he was. That got me thinking of some of the "older" fighters that are still fighting and even guys like Matt Brown and Mark Hunt who have brought up CTE or other issues yet are allowed to fight. Then there are guys like Bovy Sor Udomson and Pornsanae Sitmonchai in Muay Thai and Kickboxing it's not something I like to think about. It kinda pisses me off like with Pornsanae he was pretty done fighting was a trainer at Evolve MMA something happens and then he is booked in a fight in Japan and get knocked out again....Your Favorite Fighters Health?
