Democrats No Longer Pretending To Support Borders

Those gloryhole faced punks will never come up to my neck of the woods and pull their monkeyshines, this isn't a liberal safe space like Berkeley or Portland. I'm not the least bit concerned about them.

Sounds like a nice place....

Progressive Democrats introduced a bill in the House Thursday that would shut down U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within one year of enactment – part of a movement that has growing support but that's also getting criticized by moderate Democrats as well as Republicans.

House Speaker Paul Ryan was incredulous: “They have really jumped the sharks on the left.”

Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis., sponsored the legislation, along with Reps. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., and Adriano Espaillat D-N.Y., who are both themselves immigrants. All three have criticized the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance policy,” the immigration crackdown which has resulted in the separation of children and parents and the creation of makeshift tent cities and “tender age shelters” to house the recent influx of immigrants.

The bill’s sponsors say they introduced the measure because they believe ICE is too corrupt to reform.

The bill responds to a growing left-wing movement to abolish ICE, whose message has been amplified by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic Socialist candidate who gained national attention for her upset primary win in New York on a platform of economic and social justice.

Both Republicans and skeptical Democrats have asked what would replace the agency, which, in addition to detaining and deporting undocumented immigrants, investigates criminal activity such as human smuggling and sex trafficking.

You can't deport people who have been here for years, you can't deport people who just got here, you can't stop people from coming here who aren't here yet and now we need to get rid of immigration enforcement entirely...

Yeah. I gotta change my tune at this point.

Trump is going to win in 2020.

They're just not getting it. The Democrats rabble-roused their base for so long that they can no longer control them. Their Pit Bull grew into a monster too strong for the leash. That's broken, now. It's so frustrating, personally, but there's nothing I can do. They won't listen. Just go look at the Cavill thread. It looks like nearly 1/2 our liberal posters still support #metoo.

No it doesn't.

W was a Republican you fucking dork. And despite Congress giving W the ability to do so, he decline to ever enforce the policy.

Trump and his admin decided to enforce the policy.
What does W being a Republican have to do with the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008?
You were wrong.

Obama also enforced it, only very selectively. Not surprising, he was always more interested in being liked and loved than doing his job.
The picture that sparked the fake outrage was an Obama era pic of, guess what? Kids separated from their "parents".
The law was written to protect kids from trafficking and other abuses, and was prompted by none other than Dianne Feinstein.

Exactly my point, Obama enforced it as needed and very selectively.

Trump made it their policy to enforce it on all families captured at the border specifically to deter asylum seekers.. This was Trump's policy, no one else's.

Also, Bush being Republican has everything to do with this conversation since your original position was that this was a Democrat policy.

It was not. Bush was President all of 2008. You're confusing the US government having the right to detain and split families caught at the border with the expressed policy to enforce that right on all families caught at the border.

I hope this helps.

JFC, enforcing the law is his job.
Trump's policy, ladies and gentlemen, is doing his job. Talk about reaching.
Trump was enforcing GWB's policy. Big distinction.
And I got a good laugh from "specifically to deter asylum seekers".
There are designated points of entry for that.
My original position was it was a "Democrat policy"? Where did I say that?
You're wrong.

Bill Clinton started with a deficit and ended with a surplus.

Bush Jr started with a surplus and ended with the largest deficit of all time.

Obama started with the largest deficit of all time and lowered it by more than half.

Trump started with a $660M/yr deficit and it's projected to be near 1T/yr by the end of his first term because of the tax cuts.
Publicly held debt almost doubled under obama it went from 7.5 trillion in 09 to 14.1 trillion in 16

Your point?

If Obama left the budget where it was when he started office it would have nearly tripled. Would you have preferred that instead?

At the current rate Trump is going to increase the debt just as much.

Nope, your comprehension is just bad. I'll try it one more time.

It was never Bush or Obama's policy to separate all families seeking asylum caught at the border even though Congress gave them both the right to do so.

It was only Trump's policy to separate all families seeking asylum caught at the border.

Being granted the legal authority by Congress to separate families caught at the border is not the same thing as specifically putting in place a policy to do so.

Yeah, we're done here. I'm dealing with a retard, and I don't do that. It is about as productive as talking to a wall.
Carry on.

I would use this as a platform and run with it in November if I was a Republican. Back the Dems into a corner by showing them poll statistics showing how 69 percent of most Americans are against sanctuary cities et al. And going, "So your saying a majority of Americans are stupid?." Keep hitting em over the head with it.

I can't remember the exact poll numbers on it and we all know they are flimsy at best but it would definitely make them stumble during a debate. Or put up a TV ad saying, "This guy thinks your stupid for wanting to respect our Laws."
All Trump has to do is show footage of the neverending temper tantrum we've been watching since 2016.
Antifa, BLM, and the myriad violence and hysterical shreeking from the left is the gift that keeps on giving

Do you have any numbers for this? I ask because I keep hearing this statement from people. So I did some digging to try and find out what exactly "very selectively" and "as needed" meant as far as numbers go and I couldn't find anything. So turns out that they don't have any numbers for this information, like none at all. DHS didn't keep track of this at all (which I guess they were supposed to since the article mentioned they didn't). So it just makes me wonder where are people getting this information from when no one was keeping track of it.

Where's the rage?
Nice try, but not everyone is as stupid as you.
I have laid out fact after fact while he moves the goal posts with each new post. Not playing that game.

Yes, this hysterical shreeking will lead to a devastating loss for you and the uneducated November. In b4 you rage quit
