DJ beat Wilson Reis (10th defense) and Ray Borg (11th defense) to break Andy’s title defenses record

I love Andy, but wasn't his last title defense Stephan Bonner? That was to set the record at 10, right? Stephan was good, but he wasn't in line - he just helped out a card. Is that really better than MM who's taking on those in line? It wasn't Andy's fault, but he did have some defences that were better than others. Like they all do.

No... He took that fight purely for fun at short notice 205 same with Irvin and Griffin, Lutter didn't count either

And ppl gave him all sorts of shit for Maia and Leites as his weak title defenses but look at where they are now... still top fighters

Don't Stop there. Okami isn't a spectacular fighter. Neither is chael sonnen.

Mightymouse is way more goatly than silva.
MM was being taken down by Time Elliot and Ray Borg, if he fought someone like Chael he would be exposed big time

mfs are saying borg and reis >>>> sonnen, cote, leites etc.

hilarious

DJ is fighting literal grappling dummies and hitting them with pro-wrestling finishers. Total joke.

Maia is now a WW (so clearly he was undersized at MW) and Leites was never a top fighter and never will be.

i might have given MM a pass and said his div is trash only cans in there but he also ducked TJ, beating him and andersons records at same time would have been glorious and proved all the haters wrong but we all know what dj chose.

Gave Cruz one of the hardest fights he ever had...made Cruz change his gameplan to allmost just wrestling....while working a full time job...drops down to 125...now is fighting full time and is breaking records...

Let that sink in
Pfft!

He continues to break records because he is in a division that has a relatively small (pun not intended) talent pool to begin with.

Tell me how many full grown men you know that are 5'3" weighing in between 125lbs-139lbs walk around weight?

That's why lightweight and welterweight are so stacked as the average sized male human being is that size. It is just a bigger pool to draw from.

His record will always have an Asterix beside it!

Told you before but OK. Takase who was 4-7 and Chonan

So two people who are very good at what they do and have more accomplishments than any of Demetrious Johnson's opponents put together especially chonan he would go on to win a championship title in his retirement fight.

Too bad he doesn't have as legit comp as patrick cote, travis lutter, and thales leites....

DJ is P4P, and there's no question about it. When you're that good you make others look pedestrian. Bottom line.

Ones a drug cheat that fought in an average division and started losing once it heated up

The other ducks/fights in a terrible division with no competition..

Both aren't fit to clean GSPs jock lets be honest

DJ dominated both of them on the ground. Every time he got taken down he took dominant position from them.

But maybe you're right. It's not like he beat any Olympic gold level wresters or anything...oh wait.

Cejudo was a freestyle wrestler, just like Yoel Romero, he has good takedowns but lacks the top control of typical folkstyle wrestlers, which means they are not good at keeping people down. Ben Askren has a good breakdown on this. I'm sorry but you cant be one of the GOATS while struggling to beat guys like Tim Elliot. MM's competition is shallow, if you take away the "title defense" angle, his resume is no better than guys like Ferguson, DC, Stipe etc.

At the time he had TrT coming out of his eyeballs and was manhandling everybody in the division... even guys who were historically good grapplers (Marquart and Okami). Maybe you weren't watching then...
I wasnt watching MMA at that time, just posting on sherdog for shits and giggles

Maybe you werent watching then, cuz Sonnen had double digit losses going into the Silva fight (who was likely on roids just like Sonnen was)
