Dana is very smart, thanks to him the UFC is a multimillion company but he's shit as a promoter: shitting your own talent and insulting it (Ngannou), not paying enough to the roster, not promoting lower cards while doing everything to promote Mcg and his fights etc..

He didn’t shit on ngannou. He explained what we all saw. An embarrassing performance. He can’t just act like it didn’t happen.

Not paying more isn’t based on emotion or bad business.

Lower cards get promoted. They just are harder to sell. Mcg makes his own promotion and people follow him and everything he does and says.

I think a more fair summation would be that Askren never made the UFC due to Their both being emotional.

Luck is a big factor when it comes to business. I'd say Dana has had his share of it. He had friends with millions of dollars to invest in the business. The trend of reality TV was taking off. Forrest and Bonnar had an incredible fight to bring in new viewers. None of that was due to his business acumen, he was just lucky. There's definitely some skill involved but I don't think it's fair to say he alone is responsible for their success.
