I dont know about this game but when the first ea UFC came out I remember an interview where the devs talked about that the UFC decided the ratings and they had no input on then.
Yea I think at the very least right now, the UFC has to approve the ratings. Could be wrong.

I read some of the EA Gamechangers in the operation sports forum are saying the overalls for each category don't tell the whole story, and its much more important to view the sub-categories. Not sure exactly though.

Prepare to get ace whoopings at LHW with the GOAT CB Dollaway.

Holm is a better striker than Shevchenko by 1 point... really now... who was the girl who schooled Holm on the feet? Honestly, I would rate Holm as 89.

Shevchenko is a better striker than Nunes, too.

Final week before the game releases. Guys with XBOX/EA Access will be playing in like 3 or 4 days. My PS4 will pre-load the game tomorrow.

I'm ready.

Holly's stats are probably better because her kicks are rated higher, but I'm betting Valentina's hands are better which would be accurate.

Personally not willing to pre-order. Going to run my 10 hour trial or whatever I get with EA Access then decide if I want to purchase at that stage.

Did you play the Beta? If not, I get why you would wait for the EA Access.

My advice if you haven't played the Beta: give the EA Access Trial the full 10 hours before making a decision. My 1st impression of the new striking system was luke-warm at best. It just felt SO different and floaty compared to UFC 2. The reason it felt floaty is because I was so used to pushing the left stick in different directions while striking, which was how you did it in UFC 2 (back and punch for uppercut). So I was moving my guy around everywhere and not sitting down on strikes.

Once I figured out the controls, man its so much better. Head and shoulders better.

We used to rave about EA MMA's logic to striking and damage, this game kills in that area.

I managed to try the Beta thanks to someone on this site.

I enjoyed it, quite a bit. Biggest reason for me going the EA Access route is because I want to see how much I like the career (as other than casual online with friends that's basically all I play) before I purchase/see how much it'll hold me to see if I want to pay for it or not.

I still have a couple gripes about the striking (uppercuts are a chore/the beta didn't have a decent tutorial to outline how the striking controls changed) but I love walking forward behind the jab. Means I can finally make a game version of myself that fights the way that I tried to when I trained for a bit.

EDIT:
Biggest concern I have coming out of all the promotional vids and such is the "longevity" meter. I remember in the last game I got popped with literally two jabs early in my career and it felt like I lost 25% of the damn meter.

Ok yea that makes sense. I am primarily an online player. I might dive into some career this time around but it plays almost no role in my buying decision.

Game felt pretty great for a Beta in the online realm. So I was easy to please. I generally don't get too crazy with expectations, so I'm hard to let down in MMA games. While I wish clinch was addressed, also not a game breaker for me. I know they are working on that for UFC 4. I can just see that the game is progressing pretty well year to year.

I just hope they either add or patch in the ability to just "rematch" someone in the more casual online portion of the game. If I'm playing a friend in another state we shouldn't have to send an invite between each match.

In prior games I never really mastered the ground game. I always got comfortable enough with it to avoid submissions, land some ground and pound and get up.

But since the Beta ended, i have been working on the ground game only in UFC 2 and Ive gotten much better. But I noticed a flaw.

If you are in bottom guard, and you time a transition denial perfectly, it sweeps to a single leg takedown and you end up in guard top position.

This is all good if you have a wrestler with a good top game, but what if I have Werdum or BJ Penn with a nasty guard? I dont want that reversal at all. I go from having options like Rubber Guard, multiple submissions, Elbow, I can drain their stamina by denying their transitions and slap on a triangle. Then suddenly Im in their guard, with no submissions, a weak top game, etc..

I really hope they removed that sweep for guard specialists.

Haven’t played the demo yet. UFC 2 was ok, nothing more. I am the type of gamer that like the realistic feel of a game. From what I’ve seen from some Youtube videos, the striking looks better but I am disappointed in some lacking details like Khabib coming in without his hat.

Another thing I am disappointed in is the fact that the ref doesn’t come in and pushes the fighter away when you knock someone out. Important detail IMO.

Won't be a demo, was just the beta.

I hear you on the ref interaction. Supposedly that takes a lot of resources to implent, and that is something EA hasn't really given this team. So they decided to improve the gameplay, rather than the presentation, which I think, was the right call. While the ref interaction makes things look much more realistic, it is a scripted event and it will look nearly identical each and every time.

I am happy with the approach they took but it is a little unfortunate that decisions have to be made as to what to include in this title. For example, draws dont even exist in UFC 3 because they did not record how fighters would react to that. I think this is absurd.

Yeah so many omissions...it's also unfortunate they only focused on 1 aspect of the game (striking), leaving the other aspects basically untouched (ground game, ground and pound, clinch, etc).
Honestly I haven't been excited for a MMA game since Undisputed 3, I tried EA UFC 2 but I couldn't even bother trying to learn because it just wasn't fun to me...hopefully this one is going to change my mind

twitch. easportsufc

To be fair, they touched up ground game in UFC 2 already. But yeah, I can see where you are coming from. If you love grappling then there's not much to be excited about.

They are streaming the game with Mighty Mouse later today on Twitch. It might be the patched version with all the fixes included..

Nice to see they made a bunch of changes based on feedback. That's a pretty healthy list of things that were adjusted.

As a guy that primarily keeps fights standing (my CAF guys almost always have the highest rated TDD possible even as I go through career modes) the simple fact I can throw a damn jab walking forward is fucking awesome.

For the Sherdog Tourney, I think HW might be a bad division this year. Just no depth, unless its a 10 man tourney maybe?

BW, FW, LW, WW are the deepest divisions for sure.

Is anyone able to still play EA UFC 2 on ps4? Tried a couple of days in a row now, keep getting the "waiting to transition to game" and then "the session failed to load. Please try again" :(
