Emmanuel Rodriguez and Paul Butler to meet for vacant title

Bantamweight contenders Emmanuel Rodriguez and Paul Butler have reached an agreement for a fight on May 5, according to ESPN, and will be fighting for the vacant IBF bantamweight title on the Tony Bellew vs David Haye rematch undercard in London.

For the vacant IBF bantamweight world title, Emmanuel Rodriguez (18-0, 13 KOs) dropped former world champion Paul Butler (26-2, 14 KOs) two times and dominated him over twelve rounds for an easy unanimous decision win. The scores were 118-108, 120-106, 120-106.

It was a bit of a stale fight though.
Now we should get to see more of Rodriquez against stiff competition.

I was super impressed with Rodriguez. The guy has talent for days. His timing, power, use of the jab and not relying on one hand to land his best shots was really impressive, stamina held up well. I'm a fan, for sure. I'd like to see him against a harder puncher but he beat the shit out of Butler in that fight, and Butler is a decent fighter so it's ot like he just beat up some can.

If Rodriguez decides to fight in the WBSS tournament and they get who they want, you'll get it.

That would be Burnett, Tete, Inoue, Rodriguez, Rigondeaux, McDonnell, Payano and Nery. That's more than enough to keep all of these guys on their toes.
