Ever battle with your ISP over cost? Update: Got a new deal pg.2

I signed up for a gigabit internet promotion with my isp in october. Cable prices have been falling off a cliff here.

I was on 100/10 for 69.99, when I upgraded to 1000/100 for 74.99 I was pretty happy.

Less than 6months later they are offering the gigabit internet for 24.99 to select people.

Ive been on chat with my isp over and over today trying different tactics to get it but no luck.

Muh fuckers aint gonna give people the same internet as me for 1/3rd the price and get away with it.

Ill cancel and have no internet out pf spite if i dont get it

Its fucked up cable/ISP companies are so consumed with getting new customers they don't treat their current ones right. I had the same situation where I found out a package I was paying for was way cheaper for new customers. I threatened to cancel and they had a sales rep talk to me. What I ended up doing was switching the account into my brother's name. That got me the new customer low price. It was not an ideal way to go but it has saved me about $70 a month since I have a package deal with everything included. Not only did my bill get cheaper but I got way more in the new deal. I don't know if your company will do this but if you live with someone this might be something to try.
 
I know the deal im after is a retention deal. You might be able to get it as a new customer but ymmv.

They know the website i use fpr deals and even mentioned it by name. They know we know but will play dumb anyway and act like they cant do it

You're being ridiculous. The ISP would be out of business if they started giving every customer $25 deals.

I actually cancel my uverse subscription every two years and they have promos all the time where you get $400 in gift cards and the big discount. Its so dumb. Sure I will take the 400 no problem. Same name on the account and everything, just a new account number.
 
My deal ran out and i walked in and said "yea my deal ran out. if you dont give me this same deal im going to cancel right now and you have to send a guy over to my house to collect all of the equipment and spend all that time when i just want to give you money and continue my service."

They sent the guy out to collect the equipment the next day.

It really varies from person to person. Some will give you the deal right awzy some wont no matter what

Im guessing here but maybe 1/10th of 1% will actually pursue this deal the way i am, ruthless and aggresssively.

Nobody is buying cable anymore so they are charging more for internet access.
 
They are transferring me to retentions again. Not even sure what to say this time

They said no again. Agents are well aware of whats going on but wont give the deal to certain people. They will say its only for eligable postal codes but thats a lie. I already know only managers and retentions can give the deal.

You just need to figure out a way to convince them

Have you tried calling them again? A different sales person might have a different tune. Ask for the supervisor. Or go on hunger strike.
 
They usually have those types of offers to steal customers from other ISPs. Drop them, go to another ISP, then you'll probably get the offer in a month or two. I used to change ISPs every year to get the promotional rate. Loyalty doesn't really exist in the world of cellular phones, cable tv, and ISPs.
 
no luck. doesnt look like I can get it. I tried pretty hard. it just pisses me off that people a couple cities away are paying 1/3rd the price as me
 
I was paying £35 but my contract had expired and new customers were getting it for £20.

I managed to haggle the retentions department down to £16.50.
 
If you are locked in they will not do shit.

If you aren't locked in don't compare to their best deal compare to their competitors best deal.
 
Just went to the bank, was getting 0.8%. said I am thinking of going to a competitor who offers 2.6%. Boom 2.3% with none of the conditions the 2.6% had.

Doubtful. They will have some clauses to ensure you are locked in or some significant increase after a short honeymoon period.
 
if you signed a contract that’s your bad
