Media Exclusive: Mike Tyson's trainer Rafael Cordeiro on Jake Paul (Weekly Video Updates)

Mike's his own man, let him do this. He knows what he is doing and he'll be WELL paid no doubt.

Ordinarily I would be a bit appalled at a 20-something guy fighting a 57 year old guy but ....Tyson is special and if he gets his cardio up and his training goes well, and he doesn't get injured (definite possibility of that) I think it could be a good fight.

Let's all admit.... to see 57-yr old Tyson KO Jake Paul would be glorious.
I HOPE that they don't have some kind of agreement to make it an "exhibition". In other words, "let's go the distance and we'll have the judges call it a draw".

No don't want that -- just go all out and try to KO each other. That's what i want to see.
Hope Paul is ready for those Tyson bodyshots..........

Well said sir.
You actually made me look at this thing in a different way, thanks.

Mike Tyson is stepping back into the boxing ring to face former YouTuber Jake Paul this summer.

Tyson, who will celebrate his 58th birthday in June, has not fought in a professional match since 2005. That year, he quit before the seventh round in a bout with Kevin McBride that he later said he only took for the payday. He has a 50-6 record (44 KOs) in his professional career.

However, the former heavyweight champion did fight more recently with an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. Paul fought in a co-main event on that card against former NBA player Nate Robinson. Tyson and Jones fought to a draw after eight full rounds, and Paul knocked out Robinson in the second round of his fight.

Paul, 27, has a 9-1 career record with six knockouts. He most recently defeated professional boxer Ryan Bourland in a first-round TKO in early March.

Official odds for the fight are not out just yet, but one expert shared preliminary odds in March. Here's everything we know about the Tyson vs. Paul fight so far.

Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas

Honestly, mikes gonna fucking kill him. I hadn’t even taken the time to watch the training footage, lol, the way Tyson is moving Jake isn’t gonna land a shot. Tysons age may be a factor, sure, the head can’t take much in the way of concussive blows, but you gotta hit the man first, and Mike looks fucking SHARP. 100% confident in Mike to get the job more than done, he’s getting the stoppage if that’s in the rules to get.

Can’t believe I ever even questioned it. I’m back. I’m back in the real world. Sorry guys lol get him Mike

Anything could happen, I suppose, but Jake's the betting favorite. The bookies see it as about a 60/40 fight.

For anyone betting.... I would make the comment that the chances of a draw are substantial here. They MIGHT have some written (or unwritten...) agreement not to do any KOs, and let it go the distance and the judges *magically* judge it a draw thus saving everyone's face as Tyson's pride means he doesn't wanna lose to a guy like Paul, and Paul wouldn't wanna lose to a 58yr old (even someone named Iron Mike Tyson).

I really hope this fight is not a frigging stupid exhibition fight. -- that's the boxing equivalent of WWE wrestling. F that.
Have a proper 8rounds or more fight, no exhibition bullshit, no head-guards, just get it done. And don't be too fucking nice to each other in the pre-fight pressers either. Make it mean guys, do it up right.

This is a sideshow, circus type event. But fuck it, I want to see Mike hit him with hard and put him down. But he's old and doesn't fight anymore so who knows what will really happen. You'd think at some point Jake Paul would get tired of beating up retired fighters but I guess he likes to pretend he's great

Me too but they're using 16-18 ounce gloves. If they where using 10 oz gloves then we'd see someone slept.

Give Mike the 4 oz MMA gloves and let's see what happens.

But of course Jake Paul will never agree to that

I'm growing tired of seeing Rafael looking surprised and confused everytime he holds mits for Tyson. Yeah he hits hard, we know.
