Experienced Reality based combateer V Pro MMA fighter on the street

i think mma guy will win combative guys train vs slow looping strikes usually they wont know how to deal with hand speed of that of a pro fighter they wont have a lick of conditioning either mma guys are use to guys with proper technique and speed

If the pro mma fighter is fighting a Sherdogger, he's fucked.
ya the sherdoggers massive size advantage and weight along with there ability to constant bang will just overwhelm them

MMA guy

I train MMA, Filipino martial arts and combatives. Combatives spends too much time on scenarios, self defense, etc. Tactics and the less obvious attributes are built through sparring.

Different goals.

Self-defense = avoiding or escaping a full-on fight.
MMA = fighting for money.

Silly to pit one vs the other.

Self defense is about surviving an attack, whether by avoiding one successfully, or defeating an attacker(s).

The idea here seems to be which approach to combat skills will produce a more competent fighter.

It's tricky to compare these two approaches equally because many seemingly competent self defense systems encourage attacks that can't be fully trained, like the Shredder or Vunak's uninterrupted biting.

Vale Tudo seems to be the closest we can get to seeing what works in a situation like the one posed.
