Movies FANTASTIC FOUR (Julia Garner to Play Silver Surfer, post #685)

I like every single Punisher adaptation there has been. Dolph's was an 80's film before there was any money being put into comic book movies. Thomas Jane was cursed with a less than stellar script (redeemed by the dirty laundry short film) but it still has an 89% viewer score, so you aren't alone. The Stevenson one at least got the violence aspect on point.

- I loved the first two. Watched Dolph and Jane movies several times. The last one was the one i didnt like!

David Krumholtz asked and talked about possibly playing The Thing, which he obviously didn't get.

However now he's "campaigning" to play Mole Man which would be just about perfect in casting and for an obvious first villain for the F4.

Fantastic Four has found its Silver Surfer. Julia Garner will play a version the classic character, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

WandaVision director Matt Shakman is directing the feature, which stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The film has a release date of July 25, 2025 and is rumored to take place in the 1960s, the era in which writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby first introduced the Fantastic Four, the super team that launched the Marvel Universe in comics. Eric Pearson, known for Black Widow and Thor: Ragnarok, is the current writer on the film.

The Silver Surfer was introduced in in Fantastic Four No. 48 as the herald of Galactus, a planet eating entity, though that version of the Surfer was an alien astronomer known as Norrin Radd. Garner is said to be playing a different surfer known as Shalla-Bal, who was the lover of Norrin Radd.

Garner is a three-time Emmy winner for playing Ruth Langmore in the Netflix series Ozark. She also earned an Emmy nomination for leading Inventing Anna, the series about real-life con artist Anna Delvey. Coming up, she has The Wolf Man due out next year from Universal and Blumhouse.

pass on that, that’s not the Silver Surfer at all. As a long term Fantastic Four reader that was somewhat interested in this movie, this news just about kills that interest. Might even drop the title from my pull list.

Also, really good Surfer story (featuring the actual Silver Surfer):

Ruth as Silver Surfer? *Checks date* Nope says April 3rd not April 1st. Anxiously awaiting the announcement of Jenny Ortega as Dr Doom.

Julia Garner is the most overrated actress in Hollywood. Her performance in Ozark is the most overrated performance in acting history. I literally had to stop watching it because of her and I loved the first couple seasons. We get it, you are mad. Is it possible you can display any other emotion or depth other than you are mad?

They could have just had her play Nova instead of funking up the Silver Surfer. Given how retarded Marvel's comic book side is and how they pander to the movie crowd now I am betting on them screwing up the comic book Surfer as well to synergize things.

It was literally that simple.

If you gotta go woke AF at least make it someone with a banging body not stick figure Ruth Langmore.
