Fast or calories count?

Hi everyone, I ate badly through the holidays. Though my constant exercising kept my weight gain under 5 pounds. For something as small as a 5 lb weight gain, is fasting a good option or should I just get back to counting calories and try to lose it in about 25 days?
 
5 lbs. is nothing. most of it is probably water anyway. just chill out and eat clean again.
 
I wouldnt do either and just keep on keeping on. If its still there in another 30 days despite normal eating and exercise then we can talk about it.
