Petry wasnt the #1 Candidate, Weidel & Gauland were.
Petry was basically demoted to an also-spokesperson in April.

Yeah what I mean she was the face of the Party. One of the top people that would appeal to conservative voters that disagree with Merkels immigration policy.
I have never heard of the other two until they demoted an 8 months pregnant women.

By her leaving the Party it was clear that the AFD doesn't actually have any serious interest in government.
Petry was the one pushing for actual policies. If Petry starts her own Party what it looks like at the moment.
And positions her right from the CSU but with interest in forming coalitions, the AFD is done.
Just speculation of course. But the AFD has position itself to far on the right.
Instead of being a conservative alternative they are right-wing populists. I can't see them having long-term success.
Especially not if a real conservative option comes along.
 
I'm not going to lie, when I saw the thread title I assumed this was a War Room Presidency satire thread.
