I don't know why. Conor was very derogatory about football when asked about his own failed attempts at making it as one during his youth.

Celtic are a Catholic football club who have deep Irish roots, Rangers are Protestant and their fans subscribe to the idea of the British monarchy, UK as a whole and general loyalist beliefs.

As such Macgregor is a natural attachment to Celtic and conversely, Rangers will naturally oppose him.
