"Remington, the gun maker beset by falling sales and lawsuits tied to the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, has reached a financing deal that would allow it to continue operating as it seeks Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The maker of the Bushmaster AR-15-style rifle used in the Connecticut shooting that left 20 first-graders and six educators dead in 2012, said Monday that the agreement with lenders will reduce its debt by about $700 million and add about $145 million in new capital.

The company was cleared of any wrongdoing in the shooting, but investors repulsed by the massacres distanced themselves from the company's owner, investment firm Cerberus Capital Management. Cerberus acquired the gun maker in 2007, just when gun sales began to skyrocket."

I'd say you're both wrong. While not having a Dem in office certainly has caused sales to go down in general.... Remington as a company has been FUCKED ever since they were bought by Freedom Group.

Freedom Group has purchased Remington, Marlin, and Para Ordnance and Para basically fizzled into non-existence (their claim to fame was double stack .45 1911s which Remington unveiled late last week to which everyone is like 'so... it's a Para, made by shitty ass Freedom Group with a Remington stamp?').

ALL THREE companies, 2 of which are super old school well known, since being purchased by Freedom Group have seen pretty bad quality control dips. Remington had that famous recall of R700's because the triggers would just go off with a minor bump due to piss poor engineering/quality control and Marlin as a whole just has fallen off in quality.

I bet if you look at Glock sales, companies like Anderson, Palmetto State, and others that manufacture/sell stuff like AR lower receivers their sales are still decent. I bet Winchester, Weatherby, Savage, and others are also in that same bracket.

@Cubo de Sangre and probably @RerouteToRemain know that I have a Remington 700 short action that I have been using for a project that I will be buying an aftermarket trigger for. I never get after market triggers for bolt guns but cause it's a post Freedom Group Remington I don't trust it.

Yes, gun sales of finished product guns like Colt 6920s and such have gone down. But with the amount of stuff on backorder at Brownells and PSA I'd argue sales of gun parts and little modification things are still very healthy.

If I was building my precision rifle off of a Weatherby/Howa action I would not replace the trigger.

I'd say you're both wrong. While not having a Dem in office certainly has caused sales to go down in general.... Remington as a company has been FUCKED ever since they were bought by Freedom Group.

Freedom Group has purchased Remington, Marlin, and Para Ordnance and Para basically fizzled into non-existence (their claim to fame was double stack .45 1911s which Remington unveiled late last week to which everyone is like 'so... it's a Para, made by shitty ass Freedom Group with a Remington stamp?').

ALL THREE companies, 2 of which are super old school well known, since being purchased by Freedom Group have seen pretty bad quality control dips. Remington had that famous recall of R700's because the triggers would just go off with a minor bump due to piss poor engineering/quality control and Marlin as a whole just has fallen off in quality.

I bet if you look at Glock sales, companies like Anderson, Palmetto State, and others that manufacture/sell stuff like AR lower receivers their sales are still decent. I bet Winchester, Weatherby, Savage, and others are also in that same bracket.

@Cubo de Sangre and probably @RerouteToRemain know that I have a Remington 700 short action that I have been using for a project that I will be buying an aftermarket trigger for. I never get after market triggers for bolt guns but cause it's a post Freedom Group Remington I don't trust it.

Yes, gun sales of finished product guns like Colt 6920s and such have gone down. But with the amount of stuff on backorder at Brownells and PSA I'd argue sales of gun parts and little modification things are still very healthy.

For me, DPMS/Panther I feel were nearing the end anyway with companies like Fortis, Spikes, and others making lowers and parts out there. You rarely see people run full stock DPMS/Panther stuff on their Lego set ARs.

The most egregious thing Freedom Group did was Marlin. Real unforunate what happened to the very affordable but damn good quality lever gun. The market basically had Marlin and Henry with Marlin being the most practical cause they didn't use brass on everything and you could actually USE the gun rather than safe queen it (like a Henry). Since Freedom Group.... Henry is like the only lever company I'd even look at now.
