Has the ideal male body shifted culturally - especially among young people?

The body building look has never been the ideal for most people were I live. I teach college/high school and have also noticed far fewer guys who bulk up in the last few years. Just four years ago they were all trying to bench teh 275.

Probably for the best, the world can only handle so many sherbros.

For the record I still aim to bench teh 275.

I just don't care to be as wide as I am tall when I do it.

I’ve noticed way more people actually work out their legs unlike back in the day where it was all about curls and bench.

Women as well, all about ass and legs (thank god) unlike before where the skinniest women would just be on the treadmill all day.

People are working out for health more than glamour muscles now. So many guy used to look big in a shirt but were actually fat with big arms. That’s was never healthy. Now it’s total cross training for fitness. I lost 20lbs by eating right and stepping up my running and circuit training. I lost size, but my blood pressure is perfect now, my blood work is way cleaner and I feel better. I mostly lost muscle in my arms and traps, but I can run 5 miles and still can life same weight.

Not really, most dudes still for the most part srill try for the Frank Zane look.

I’m no Yoel Romero, but compared to the other dads at the community pool, I feel like Captain freakin’ America.

So true.
I was in the shittiest shape of my life late last year , and still felt like a decathlete at the local water park.

Fucking hell ..people out there are fat as fuck.

I’m no Yoel Romero, but compared to the other dads at the community pool, I feel like Captain freakin’ America.

What women think men want: Stick thin fashion model
What men want: Thicc porn star
What men think women want: Swole bodybuilder
What women want: Lean and athletic

There has never ever been just one ideal body type, male or female.

If you think so, sorry you never left your village.

I think it's always been the case. Dudes gets super jacked because they think that's what impresses women.
I don't think I'm jacked, although I am muscular, and I want to get more jacked. But women tell me I'm big enough and anymore would be too much.

Look like Luke Rockhold and you'll pound all the pussy you want.

I think these days people want to look fit in a shirt, but jack and tanned with it off. Back in my day it was all about the invisible lat syndrome with big traps and benching tree fiddy for reps. It's the new millenials that started teh 275 bench goal. Weak MFers.

Really? Because all these articles are coming out talking about women are more geared toward flabby "dad bods" like Seth Rogan.

In any case, I don't care what others find "ideal" I only care about what's ideal for me.

i blame the weak UFC heavyweight division why be like those slobs when you can dominate with a BW's physique

I think there's a greater recognition with fitness info being available on the internet that muscular, ripped physiques aren't possible without PEDs. 10-20 years ago, most people thought it was possible to get to 200 + lbs 10% bodyfat at like 5'10 naturally. Everyone that tried to get that big just got really fat.

People saw that happen and realized how fucking retarded it was, and changed their goals. I don't think anyone would mind being 200 lbs 10% they just know it's not possible.
Depends on genetics. A very lucky few can do that. My dad went through green beret school and was a shredded 270 at 6'. I wish I had those genetics, but yeah it's not for most people. Not realistic

If you are at your ideal physique that mentality will land you the most tail. Since that will make you confident and chicks are attracted to confidence more than body type anyways.
