Anyone else playing in the beta?

Nazeebo can tear it up any which way he wants. i see him lead in siege and hero damage constantly. he's my go to specialist.

been playing a lot of arthas and valla these past few days. really enjoying valla, arthas i'm still gettting used to. i'm not bad wtih him but i could be a lot better. Also stitches is a blast to play with of course, gobble up some heroes and make a run for it.

i'll be on tonight if any sherbros want to play

Stitches is a blast. Ingest an enemy hero that's close to your gate, then run behind it and spit them out. Panic and killed.

I was 10 points away from rank 1, then I had a d/c the next game, and I've lost like 5 more since then back to rank 3. It's a struggle out here...

Reporting* trying to get 10 k coins and buy another char but i don't knwo which one i'm doing half decent and having fun with Valla from D3/Sanctuary universe what about you ?

It's quite good,i played Dota 2 and LOL in a team but didn't like i find the no items to buy of Hos and different map better, the skill and characters are cool too.

I'm only rank 8 but I'm consistently surprised at how the majority, even at this rank, still do not understand some of the most basic concepts of the game. Just as a random example, how do people still not know that you're supposed to defend the angel on battlefield of eternity until you gain the advantage? I can't imagine what possesses people to just wade into an even fight---except for the enemy demon spamming AOE stuns at your team.

Or that you're supposed to kill merc camps BEFORE you spawn the spider queen minions.

OK, so maybe not the most basic concepts, but when I'm basically spamming it, how do u not catch on?

Other annoying things include:
The unreasonably high percentage of people who, instead of pushing with the overpowered arcane punisher, decide to run away and kill siege camps. WTF? We already have the most overpowered merc in the game, but yea, let's waste it to get siege camps.

Or how about these guys that, after wiping up the enemy team in a blowout fight, decide the best way to use those 20-30 seconds is---not to kill the boss, or to kill the core, but to turn in gold coins on blackheart bay. Holy hell, I can't think of a better way to waste a massive advantage.

Or worst of all, when some rank 6 guy picks double tank or double support because "I only have one assassin and someone picked him"

How does this stack against DoTA? Worth the swap?

trying to work on my side stepping, only thing I really feel I need to improve on.

I'm having a problem with people diving too far or at the wrong time. 2 games ago I had a Kerrigan who kept diving Raynor (who is almost impossible to solo kill) and then complaining that our double mage team didn't run through the Diablo/Sonya/Nazeebo to help him. Then last game we were stronger but our Sonya/Tyrael couldn't wait for the enemy garden terror to die before engaging. So they just got polymorphed and beatdown by the late game terror while trying to dive the enemy KT. If they waited 10 more seconds I'm pretty sure we would have won the game.

I can't complain too much since I still make my fair share of mistakes as well. I usually alternate between winning streaks and losing streaks so I should get another chance at rank 1 soon.

I can only speak for LOL since I played that before and I have very limited DOTA2 experience beyond the tutorial.

If you're a hardcore DOTA and LOL player. I don't think it will sway you because it's a simpler game (no items, gems, runes). Even last hitting is nonexistant and the exp is shared across the entire team. The upside is that laning is considerably shorter and the game is faster paced, usually within the first 5-6 minutes you'll have your first team fight. It doesn't really have the long lulls that other games have where you're just sitting in lane waiting for something drastic to happen before you start lane jumping. Just like other games there's team objectives but they're timed events and missing them consecutively or ignoring them can badly hurt your team. They also serve as encouragement for team fighting. There's also a few maps with different layouts and objectives (some blow up enemy bases, other curse your enemies and another one summons a huge monster that you control). Uses Blizzard IP so you see Thrall, Kerrigan, Raynor, Diablo, etc. in the game. The game loads considerably faster than LOL does, maybe it's because it's closed beta and there's no Brazilians playing.

I went 43-0 as Zeebro last night, with 89k siege damage(2nd only to our Murky, 43-1, 94k siege damage)and I had the most hero damage and most xp gain. That match was fun as hell. Punisher map, too.

Yea. we all make mistakes, and some mistakes are more understandable than others.

Like, I can understand where the Kerrigan is coming from. He's a burst assassin and wants to 1 shot someone squishy. He's got the right idea, in general, he just isn't taking into account the capabilities and limitations of all champions in the game(actually, he chose the wrong hero for that team imo). But that is something I'd consider more an advanced concept.

What really gets me is dumb mistakes where people should really know better. Like yesterday, we were losing only slightly, and the enemy team went to the boss. We knew they were there, and they knew we saw them (and nobody was dead). We have to respond in that situation, but it's obviously a bait, right? At least it was obvious to me. Not so much to the KT who decided to dive in head first, and died before the tank even got there. Like, come on man, how did you get to rank ~10 playing like that?

I don't know. Maybe I have too high of expectations for people.

Yeah just play all of the free heroes and rank them to level 5, you get 500 gold each time. Try to increase your player level, you get gold, also you gain daily quests at level 6 and at level 12 & 15 you gain extra free character slots. Not sure what type of roles you like to play but the 2K gold heroes aren't too shabby

I usually play support heroes. I want to buy Brightwing because she's the best support character right now but her cost is pretty steep and who knows how they're going to balance things.

So far I have Lili and Valla (I got for free from Diablo 3 expansion). I'm just sticking to the free heroes for now and trying to get a feel for who I like. For Warriors I really liked Stitches, ETC. For Assassin's, Valla, Kerrigan, Thrall (is pretty amazing but he's broken to the point where he's going to get nerfed soon so I wouldn't blow my money on him yet). For supports: Brightwing is the best, then Uther then it's kind of a mix up after that. I really enjoyed playing Rehgar because he reminds me of my WoW Shaman, the hero has very good mobility since his wolf is instant cast and doesn't get knocked off on hit downside is that he doesn't really have the offensive abilities other heroes. Tassadar and Tyrande are the odd ones of the support group because their support isn't really healing focused like others. For specialists I have only played Azmodan, Nazeebo and Sgt. Hammer. Nazeebo is the best one of the group, Hammer is tricky because she's all about positioning and prepping for an escape but she can easily win you a game if people leave her in a lane alone unmolested.

Hero league...what a time. Went arthas and the next 2 people decide to roll tank as well, wtf?

Yeah I'm cool with most mistakes until people start blaming me for their mistakes. I'm Azmodan, I'm pretty limited in what I can do to get you out of a bad situation. Of course I get blamed and told I'm terrible when dude dies even though I have most takedowns, least deaths, highest siege and hero damage and xp. I think mine was an Illidan who kept solo shooting into 3/4 person fights.

Nice imput thank you for sharing, i would try and spend 10k on Zeratul for contact assasssin but i don't know if it would be a wise move i definitely to play more and save my coins.

Ironically, I've noticed that the loudest, most annoying people (those guys blaming everyone but themselves) are usually the worst players.

I assume it's because they don't really understand what's going on, they just know that nobody went along with their half baked plan.

^^ Zeratul is great for pub stomping, not so much organized team play. Got him and Nova to master level in Alpha.

Just getting back into the beta, was part of most of the alpha.

Something like Arthas/Leoric/Anub/Tyrande/Jaina would be nasty. CC for days, a lot of sustain, and plenty of damage if you all roll together.

Yeah they for sure always have the most deaths. They try to pass it off on everybody else instead of their shitty positioning or initiating skills.

I tried it a little over the weekend, not overly impressed tbh.

The price of the characters made me lol think it was like

Just started playing this and having a lot of fun. Only moba I can compare it to is Smite and they are worlds apart.

I love not having to buy items during the game. That shit is for the birds.

Kerrigan was definitely the wrong pick, especially since he had the benefit of countering with the last pick. He linked his stream in chat as soon as it started so I suspected he wasn't going to be the best teammate.

And honestly, the ranks are useless. I've been playing with mostly rank 1's for a long time now and probably more than half of them are the same as those people you scratch your head about at rank 10 and below. The bonus points system is so beneficial to players who go on a lucky streak and so many people got carried when you could play with more than one friend.

I've never criticized anyone for their hero selection, but I got to say, I secretly hate every Azmodan I've ever had on my team. :) Seriously, I think my win rate with an Azmo on my team is like 10%. I remember one time this guy said, "yo, as soon as they push up I'm going to backdoor the core." He proceeded to die before even taking down the shield. It was hilarious even though it lost us the game.

Yeah won't pay so far for any char or ex costume but i'l sure saving and listening to the tims to get so more characters some changes of playstyle is cool.

Add me on BN for some games. Sgt jumpy #1499.... I think.

Id like to get a 4 or 5 man sherdog squad for HOTS hero league matches. Anybody interested? This Sunday I plan on throwing down on either HOTS all day or start my MGSV journey.

Haha I'm the opposite. Az is one of the few chars I play a bit and he's the only one I have a near 70% win rate with. Them fireballs are the shit.

Just won a match with the most messed up team composition. The opposing team had some crappy combo too. We pretty much steam rolled them when at the start I thought it was going to be a very bad match for us.

Jaina - Me
Abathor,
Zagara,
Brightwing
Malfurion

vs.

Tassadar
Lili
Raynor
Jaina,
Valla

i'm down for some sherdog gaming. i know the name is brownfeet i just can't recall the numbers so i'll look for you. i main tanks most of the time but i also play specialist and assassins. just don't expect me to support, i can't stand playing healers

Give me Nazeebo, Anub'arak, or Abathur and I'll FSU.

Not too shabby with Zagara or Thrall either.

Will do.

Gref#1392 if anyone wants to add me.

I got Cho'Gall through a friend. They really want you to spread the love and help people unlock him. 2200G reward for doing so.

He is fun but I give it a month and he will be adjusted.

Things to note:

With the exception of a few characters (Butcher) every fight against him is a 1v2. If you forget that when you run into him you will melt.

Gall can use abilities while mounted and inside the DK and Terror. Beware when chasing.

Only polymorph really prevents him from using abilities.

He has no mana pool so spam the fuck out of your abilities when not cooling down.

Just got into the beta. It's addictive as fuck so far, but granted I never got into DOTA or LoL. This kinda makes me want to give DOTA a shot, though. But my understanding is a major difference is that HotS lacks the farm/grind that's prevalent in other MOBAS, and instead concentrates mostly on combat. Without giving the other MOBAS a fair shot, that seems like something I'd consider a positive.

Awesome, guys. I typically play Assassin or Warrior, but I have no problem playing Rehgar, Malf, or Lili.

My two most played are Zeratul and Nova... I love making people butthurt haha.

I got Cho'Gall spreading the love. If you need him and are on North America services, add me Naramie#1920. I'm usually on at night. Just run a few comp stomps, no QM don't want you ruining my rating, lol.

I can see why it would seem like a positive, but to me it's like the difference between playing checkers and chess.

I bought the big bundle as it was a decent value (8 characters 4 skins 2 mounts $40) and had the witch doctor.

Color me surprised when I read how effective he was. I expected him to be much more of niche character but he is solid as hell.

Can we get an edit on the OP to add some battle tags as they come up?

Gref#1392

I've already played with a few sherdoggers and had some great games. Getting into HL now and need more people to duo queue with.

Dota has a way steeper learning curve. I've played both and Hots is ridiculously simpler. Hots is still fun, I played in alpha and a bit in beta. Try Dota though, but it will be a bit of a shock if you are just used to hots.

I am usually butthurt when I have either of those on my team :)

Sure, I'll sift through all the posts some time this weekend when I got more time and create a list of all the battle tags in the first post.

I agree i still play Lol and Heroes is a much different game. The game is fun but very simplistic, I personally enjoy it with friends much more.

So far i Like Zeratul and Arthas the most.

can't get into nova or zeratul, i'm not patient enough to wait and strike when the heroes are near death

Had my longest loss streak ever last night. Lost my first 7 of the day.

My god that was the most frustrating gaming experience ever. Between the early quitters, the bad players, the disconnections, and the bad team compositions, I couldn't get away from the losing teams.

I hate when your team falls behind early and one or more of your players just starts feeding and saying "WE LOST JUST LET THEM WIN" and it's like 5 minutes into the game. Make sme want to slap people.

Its actually made me want to try DOTA 2. Im going through the tutorial atm.

I played nova briefly and I was getting out classed by every other ranged assassin.

I'm actually a decent Zera/Nova player. There is definitely a high skill cap on those characters. Nova has zero escapes, so if you're caught out of position, you're dead. Zeratul has his blink of course, and I always save it as an escape UNLESS I have a guaranteed kill, then I will initiate with it. Until lvl 13 with wormhole, then I initiate from behind a wall with blink, cleave/bomb, blink out. Zeratul also has good wave clear and jungle capabilities, with Cleave and Vampiric Strike, whereas Nova is strictly a player killer. The thing to keep in mind is these two aren't going to top the damage charts(okay, thats a lie, they certainly can and will top Hero damage charts, and Z can put up decent siege numbers)and that their bread and butter is the Ganking Game. I play a little more reckless with Z, he is just a better hero in general, but I always have fun as Nova.

Nazeebo has, I think, the highest win rate in the game right now. He is a great hero, capable of laning, jungling, and player killing... just gotta be on point with your zombie wall, which is basically your only escape since they took sprint away from him. He is my favorite specialist, followed by Sgt. Hammer.

My favorite warrior has to be Sonya, then ETC, and recently Muradin. Johanna is fun as well.

As far as support, Malfurion probably has my favorite kit due to his root being great for wombo combos. Rehgar's mobility is fantastic, and Lili is nigh un-killable in 1v1 or 1v2 situations.

All in all, I try and play every hero when they're free, but I've definitely come across my favorites(for now).

The matches in Dota are way too long for me. I like how in hots we get straight to the action.

Spec: Abathur, gaz/zeebo
Ranged: Falstad
Melee assasain: Butcher
Warrior: Leoric
Supp: Tass

Its fun but it plateaus very fast unlike lol/dota which are deeper and more rewarding. Played about 20 hours of it

Lol @ Tass being a support

:D

Technically correct is still correct sir.
In many other games that have a support role (LOL, MMOs, squad shooters, etc) I often main a support role.
But in HOTS it just isn't my style.
