always thought this guy has a lot in common with an Austrian painter.

a chinese peasant who lived in the 19th century
wanted to work in goverment
failed the civil service exam multiple times

starts having religious visions
realises he is Jesus Christ incarnate or his brother
declares himself heavenly emperor on earth

ralleys an army of 1 million
starts a decade long war tearing the country in two
bloodiest war in Chinese history

the movement was surpressed and petered out after his death and there doesn't sem to be anything else behind all this except some guy claiming to be god and a bunch of people agreeing.

hes a real go getter

Wait who is this Austrian painter tho? Did he have a cool mustache?

Learned about him from history class. At that time in Qing dynasty, the government was inept and corrupt af, so it was ripe for revolution, and the dude was a scumbag that used religion to fan the rebellion and convinced his believers that their skin would be bulletproof against opposing soldiers.
