QB position is a crapshoot. Success in college doesn't necessarily means success in the pros. Look what happened to RG3 and Kaepernick. Both were excellent early in their career then flamed out. @MadSquabbles500 @therealdope

That's what I thought too, but the average height amongst QB in the nfl is 6"4. A lot of pros that used to play say that it helps see over your linemen and have overall better field vision. That's why guys like Drew Brees and Russel Wilson are so unique

A lot of starting O-Line are like 6'5" plus. I only think there are just a handful of QBs taller than 6'4". Flacco, Osweiler, Foles, Wentz, and a lot of heights are slightly embellished. A lot of D-Line guys are taller too than most QBs.

I'm just basing it off what I've read and watched I'm no expert. I can definitely see the advantage of being taller though, I definitely agree it doesn't translate to talent.

Jimmy G. didn't go to a high school football powerhouse by any means. He went to the same college as Romo who grew up under similar circumstances. He's lucky he was drafted as high as he was, unlike Romo who was undrafted. Apparently coach Belichick saw some Brady-like qualities he had, even coming out of a small school.

I don't really follow college FB and don't at all follow HS sports, so I really couldn't tell you.

How many of the top QB's in the NFL were considered top prospects coming out of HS? I'm genuinely curious.

Quite a bit actually. Even Brees Brady, Wilson were recruited by D1A schools, even if pro scouts did not think much of them. All except Wentz, Flacco, Garoppolo, went to D1A schools. Rodgers was overlooked, but he made his way to Cal, and pro scouts loved him.

A lot of big time programs don't run a pro style offense. Plus, it happens. Steve McNair went to Alcorn State, Flacco went to Delaware, Favre went to Southern Miss (an FBS program but still not big time), Big Ben at Miami of Ohio, Romo went to Eastern Illinois, etc.

I couldn't find anything on Big Ben, Brady, Brees, Eli, McCown, Rivers, Rodgers (pre-JuCo) and Wentz.
Nothing for Denver either since no one gives a fuck about any of their QBs.

    Shocking.

    Re: Brady.

He sent out tapes of his highlights. A michigan assistant showed it top Gary Moeller and he thought he "looked like he could play QB".

On the topic of HS recruiting, this is interesting:

You mean Shanahan. He ruined Colt Brennan's career too. @kuromusha

Being blackballed for standing up to social injustices is not "flaming out."

There's no proof of the NFL blackballing Kaepernick. At his best he's only a backup QB now.

Dude, we traded up, and our new, capable quarterback doesn't have a circus strapped to his back.
