All 4 GIFs above were correctly embedded and as such are showing normally for me. Is this not the case for you at time of writing?

For Giphy content, it's a straight copy-paste of the image URL via the in-post Image icon here. No additional action is needed.

Um.... now they are, but the two bottom ones weren't when I made the thread.

    Odd.

It sounds more an issue on their end as I would otherwise expect across-the-board issues for us here, which is not the case.

I'm glad everything is now up for you. I'll leave this thread open with the idea that you are free to return to it and update us should you experience any further problems embedding external images.

    Enjoy the site

For the record, I'm pretty sure I've experienced what @GearSolidMetal was experiencing. And I think you're right, @Valhoven, I think it's on the Giphy side of things.

Sometimes, if you click "View Image" on a gif from Giphy, it won't actually take you to a new url that can then be properly embedded on here. Every once in a while, there'll be something screwy with the gif and if you try to post it here it just shows up (for me anyway) as "img" (with the "img" appearing in brackets) with no image and javascript showing a "0."

I'm not a tech guy, so I have no idea what anything that I just typed means. I just wanted to let GearSolidMetal know he's not crazy

Do you have any idea if it's possible on a phone? I used to be able to post gifs a couple weeks ago but it doesn't seem to work anymore. It just says "IMG" in between brackets with a little square on the left.

I used to open the gif in a new windows and copy that url, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore. On the phone you don't have the option to copy image link, only the url so that was my alternative.

    Sorry to hear that, Sans.

What phone are you on? I guess the issue to correct the situation is more how again to open images in a new browser window. It seems unlikely that option would have been removed; changed rather, perhaps.

I do open the gif in a new browser window and copy the link that ends with ".gif" and copy it here using the image icon, but since a couple of weeks, for some reason, it has stopped working. I tried on multiple occasions using different gifs but i still get the same result. I use android.

*Edit: The issue is with Chrome. I just tried using Firefox and it works no problem. And unlike Chrome it has the option to copy the image url instead of needing to open the gif in a new page.

*Edit 2: Cleared the cache on Chrome. Posting gifs works now.

@GearSolidMetal have you tried just right clicking on the image itself and clicking "copy" and then just use "ctrl-v" in the reply box? I don't ever use the image drop down box and all the gifs from giphy work fine for me like this
