The difference is that no company controls 100% of an energy market and so if one fails, another company replaces it...when a government controls it all and fucks shit up, the people are screwed for a long time. Congrats on your socialist derpiness.

in many areas of the United States, electric companies are allowed to be natural monopolies, and can be either privately owned companies or publicly owned companies.

However, the main thing that nullifies your statement is the fact that energy companies are regional, and would continue to be so whether they are private or public, so there would always be another company that could come in and pick up the slack. Secondly, just because an energy company is private doesn't mean it doesn't harm a region when it goes belly up. In fact, many of the biggest energy companies are constantly consolidating and merging, therefore having a higher potential to cause the bigger issues that you allude to.

My point is that the post office (a government entity)does well. It is also mandatory for it to fund millions upon millions to future pension. It is mandatory to offer the mail service to every address in the US for 50 cents. 50 cents for granny to send a card to Jimmy from Florida to Oregon! Think about that. It is an amazing service. Fed ex or ups dont do any of those things so you comparing their financial statements and acting like that proves that the government sucks and private companies are the only answer is silly. I asked you if fed ex or ups fund their future employees so you could see the difference.

So I will stand by my point. I would rather have the government control healthcare than have the insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and caregivers screw me over 3 times. What they charge for basic things like xray, MRI, and prescription meds are also silly.

Settle down genius. Replacing income tax with land value tax would shift a lot of tax burden from the low and middle class to the rich and corporations. And I'm in favor of closing loopholes and increasing the effective corporate rate.
