How relevant is mario sperrys vale tudo 1 dvds now?

Honestly, MMA ground grappling has not evolved a whole hell of a lot in the past 10 years. The average skill level is higher, but that's about it.

Guys are way better at controlling ground and pound attacks in their guard and halfguard, GNP TKO are pretty rare if the guy wasn't hurt badly before they went to the ground.

Back in the day, GSP, Tito and a lot of wrestlers could finish fights by just getting the takedown and staying in the guard

Probably the most relevant video series if you're looking for a "MMA Grappling" instructional.

Faras Zahabi mentioned this in one of his videos, but you can watch a fighter and tell pretty easily of his bjj coach is a sport bjj guy or if he has experience in the more old school style.

Definitely feel it's important to make the distinction between the two. At the end of the day the fundamentals are the same whether you're talking about grappling only or grappling with strikes but there are some differences in technique and strategy that should be addressed.

Still many people can win like that.
