Just starting by saying that i`m super fascinated by striking and all the elements involved in that matter and i just love study all kinds of different types of striking martial arts.

When i discover MMA and when i got more educated about fighting and especially striking i came to the realization that i was witnessing an absolute genius in Anderson Silva. His movement, footwork, angles, precision, speed, agility, balance, power, the way he read his opponent and from there would just piece by piece dismantle him was something that almost make me feel like i was watching something scripted, it was that crazy for me what this guy was able to do.

A guy who took what we considered world class fighting to another level, did things inside the octagon that we most likely will never see again. A Maradona, Michael Jordan type of genius, he had a aura of his own that the likes of Fedor, Jones, GSP never had because it just makes you feel like you know that you are watching something different and that something really fascinating is about to happen.

Now when i watch Stephen Thompson fight, i get the exact same vibe. He has that unique aura that is almost inexplicable, like he was born to do this and everything almost comes together in a natural way for him, just like Anderson had it no one else.

- You wanna close that distance? Good luck dealing with the footwork, speed and precision of his counters

- The way he bounces back and foward making you think about the level change, then he quickly gets the "In & Out" movement going with that precision, balance and speed.

- He reads you and he anticipates what you are going to do, he makes you pay for it because he is way faster and has way better timing.

- Again, precision, speed, timing, angles...

- Measuring distances and not letting you get too close to even attempt any combos or to try grapple him

- And again...In & Out...balance...angles...precision...footwork...speed.

I`m telling you people this man is on another level when it comes to striking, and training with Weidman and getting that grappling going was the perfect combination to him having the conforte and confidence to get everything working well for him in MMA.

- I truly believe this man will mark an era in the next few years and we are going to witness greatness in the making, new level shit is about to go down just like we saw with Anderson, just my 2 cents.

Nice GIFS, we will see how he does against the elite competition. But you're right, his striking is on another level

His destruction of Hendricks was a thing of beauty, you know what I mean?

I know he fights nobodies, at least so far, but Michael page is closer in style to Anderson than wonderboy

Hendricks would've won if he could've found sparring partners

Michael Page is another bad mofo that i think is legit af, but there is no comparison in what Wonderboy does to elite competition and like you said, Michael is fighting guys that are way out of his league.

Is this a joke? Hendricks, Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald. All dispatched with relative ease.

You're going to have to define elite for me then.

Good post. Totally agree. He's exciting as hell to watch.
Looking forward to him becoming champ.

Wonderboy is awesome. I believe he's a 5th degree black belt in karate, so that's where his striking and timing comes from. I can't wait for him to be champion! The ultimate fight I feel they could make at WW is Wonderboy (c) vs GSP for the title after GSP gets done with Anderson. That'd be an absolutely amazing fight.

He is very good. But i am still not sold on his punch defense.

I'm still trying to understand why and how he's supposed to be a "Great White Hope".

I never got that one.

He's a good fighter.

Why is everyone so quick to to make everyone the next?
The next Jordan...the next Anderson..etc...

Andersons alot quicker than Wonderboy...and we know his jits is legit..well prime andy anyway.
He was pretty unhittable too and could take a punch.
