How different would the rankings be, historically speaking?

No one truly knows how prevalent steroid use is in mma, but we know that a lot of people use it, while some fighters seem to clearly be clean.

Exhibit A: Michael Bisping. He fought against several people who all got caught cheating, while himself being clean (IMO). His main strengths we're his mind and his cardio - imagine how good he would be if he also had extra testosterone.

Exhibit B: Alexander Gustafsson. He is clearly clean, and according to himself has a really hard time maintaining lean mass as soon as he enters training camp. He lost a razor close decision against Jones, a fighter who might very well have been on the juice. With extra mass and explosive power he might have been a destructive heavyweight.

Exhibit C: Daniel Cormier. I'll leave this one for you to figure out yourself.

Imagine if Paulo Borrachina was on steroids

Oh wait

Favcts: no one is clean and steroids don't win fights
They don't neccessarily win fights, but they help you train harder, longer, recover faster etc.

If they didn't help people in sports wouldn't have been taking them for the past 50 years.

Steroids can actually win you a fight, if it means you get to recover faster from injuries and training. Meanwhile, a clean person might be forced to miss a fight due to injury. Diuretics are another example that help with weight cuts and allow ped-users to bully manlets by cutting ridiculous amounts of weight and fighting in lower divisions.

EDIT: fixed the fucked up post.

They do much more then that, some improve your stamina, give you crazy strength, make you more mentally alert, quicker to react, make you less averse to risk, the list goes on and on.

People who claim steroids don’t win fights or don’t teach a fighter how to fight are deeply ignorant of some of the benefits of taking steroids.

I wonder if Cain was less injury prone if he roided? Now that's one fighter I wouldn't mind roiding for better recovery.

Steroids don't mean shit by themselves.

Royce Gracie later popped, but look at all the huge juicers he beat early days. You can beat juicers and juicers can beat you, it really depends on how your body takes to it.

Look at Vitor Belfort on PEDs, that guy was a different animal. There is clearly a night and day contrast between when he was on them and when he was off them.

Have a separate steroid league. Then depending which one gets more views start shifting the business towards that. Easy peasy, juicing’s easy

Nate Diaz would still not do steroids cos fuck that chemical shit. High times only.

Wait

You think Bisping, Gus and DC have never touched a drop ?

Damn... you dumb...

For me dc's main attribute is that he is a great competitor, his skills are only going to improve with time. He actually coaches wrestling at his gym so all eyes are on him. Theres no way he's showing up at practise and giving half effort.

Id say physically he has declined a lot but his skills get better and better

Okay so we don't truly know how prevalent PEDS are in MMA but somehow Micheal Bisping for example is the exception? What kinda logic is this man.

DC is debatable since he was in the olympics, but Bisping and Gus both pass the smell test with flying colors. Also, Gus not only gets tested by USADA, he also gets tested here in Sweden by the local anti-doping commission. If he did it in the past - who knows - but by following his training you can clearly see that he loses a lot of mass as soon as camp begins, which wouldn't be the case if he was on the juice. This is the reason why the smell test is so damn important, because if you've ever done heavy cardio you know that it is next to impossible to maintain a lot of mass.

Bro-science. Seriously though, I never claimed that these are established facts, but they are fighters that pass the smell test and seem (considering the circumstances) to be likely examples of fighters not taking PED's.
