I'm still learning the intricacies of how betting odds work + I can't do math in my head. Somebody help me out.

Google is your friend.

And you could have gotten the answer with less typing than you did here.

Send me the money. I will take care of it for you.

You could have googled it....

Having said that, the American way of reporting odds is needlessly confusing.
Why not just use decimal odds?
Odds x stake = winnings.

You'd win $5,714.29, plus your $10K back.

Who you betting on?

According to my calculations, you're going to lose 10k

I wonder if american odds are intentionally confusing in order to screw dummies out of their bling bling.

Cant think of any other reason for it.

Why not just say "+35% return" or something?

You started with $175. You win $100 in addition for each time you bet $175.

In Australia we do decimals.

Seems like the odds would be $1.53 so every $1 you put in you get 53c back.

10k would be 15300.
