this is something that needs to be answered and frankly american capitalists need to answer.

after defeating the soviet union it was decided that the next best option was to pump china, a fellow communist nation with american manufacturing jobs.

surely it could have been fucking well surmised that sending all that wealth to a singular nation who just so happens to have a larger population than ussr and potentially far greater industrial output might have been a bad idea.

gee wizz, well done america.

The gentleman is done speaking.

Eh been waiting to post that video again for years now

Until 2042 or 2043, the US shall still have the lead in the technology race with Communist China, but with each passing year that lead narrows. So, if anything is to be won it must be fought for now.
After that they will have technological parity and four times the population, much higher industrial productivity and a much more focused government that is not distracted by elections waging (economical) war against you.

Is there a question there that we’re supposed to answer?

thats the issue though isnt it. no one answered or raised the question. how the hell can a nation go from defeating the soviet union to building up another communist rival.

not a single alphabet agency weighed in about the dangers. wall street capitalists managed to dominate national security.

i guess there isnt a qiestion. im just stating facts about extremely poorly run american objectives.

Oh people were upset and voiced concern. We were all told that getting rid of manufacturing jobs would thus give Americans high paying tech jobs.

I honestly blame anyone who bought a TV from Walmart between 1994 and 2006 and Bill Clinton.

Who big ideas was this in the first place? Without them, we wont even be doing what we are doing now.

The uber Communist Chinese supremacist will insist that they would have become great without any assistance or proping up by American capitalist because they are Chinese and Confucianism thousand year history and stuff.

Wasn't there a case that certain Asians linked to the Chinese Communist party donated funds to Bill Clinton's 1996 campaign as to influence favorable US foreign policy towards China?

No way, corruption only exists within the Trump administration and the Clinton's are the good guys!!

Derp derp

It's unrealistic to contest their economic growth at this point. America will have to deal with a new superpower down the line whether they like it or not. Furthermore, tariffs will not stunt their economy and will not bring those jobs back to the US. @Cuauhtemoc is right though insofar it's now a battle for technology, which given that state of US education, it's dubious that we'll maintain any superiority.

What exactly were we supposed to do to China?

And what does that have to do with Russia, because clearly our defeat of Russia has crippled them and sent them back to the stone ages, economically speaking.

This couldn't be more accurate. Post modern feminists like Trudeau and their feminist economic agendas have been categorically rejected by Asia because they value efficiency and industriousness. While the west sandbags their economies with silly theories the far east is doing exactly what they need to do in order to surpass us in economic power.

It's all very obvious and its nauseating to see it overlooked.

Yes. Trade liberalization in general maybe a good idea, but it's actual execution has been a bigger failure then Iraq.

It works just fine if we make the effort to invest in maximizing our superiority elsewhere. We haven't though, outside of the military, for a variety of reasons.

What we should have been doing is reinforcing our education system, making it easier to maximize the intellectual output of our students. We also should be making our immigration system easier to navigate. Innovation comes from many sources and more people maximizes the chances that any innovation takes place within your borders. Additionally, it robs our competitors of their innovators. Even if we don't take people from China, if we leave them in their countries of origin, eventually China will take whatever innovations they come up with for themselves because those places lack the government infrastructure to prevent it or punish China for doing so.

Is this a "just thinking out loud" post or do you have anything substantive to say? It could be an interesting subject.
