In your opinion, what does Stipe have to do to surpass Fedor as the HW GOAT?

I would say three or four more victories against the consistent number one contenders and he is right there. It can’t be just about having some long streak, it also has to be who is on your resume? DC Is absolutely better than anyone Fedor ever fought.

The guy just cant get any attention that he rightly deserves. Guys I grew up with who watched UFC1 and on together, now have no idea who the Heavyweight champ is "Oh, is that the Croation guy?" is always the answer if even that. Just about nobody outside of the hardcore watchers even know who he is. I like the guy but hes gotta change his name to 'Stype' -no last name, just Stype, like Cain from batman..

Fedor had 12 top ten wins. Stipe he 8. So another 4 or 5 good wins in a row would probably do it. But if Fedor wins the bellator tournament, that could add another win needed for stipe

For me personally, he'd need to win 4 more fights in a row (including DC) for it to become a legitimate 50-50 debate.

Somewhere around 3-4, and then also get out before tarnishing his body of work.

You do realize that stipe got more title defense than fedor right?
And beating dc would make him above fedor in a lot of people eyes.hell even a lot of people in current mma community outside of sherdog fedor cults think stipe is the hw goat
And let’s be honest,no matter who stipe beat. Insecure fedor fans would always nitpick on every stipe wins.
"You do realize that stipe got more title defense than fedor right?"
This is not true. More UFC title defenses. Yes. Fedor did not fight in the UFC. More title defenses. No. Stipe has a ways to go.

Sure he’s the goat in a lot of sherdogger eye but no one think that outside of this forum

I think he's about 4 steps below m, but Id consider him above Fedor IF:

1. Cain returns, showin same form and he betas Cain
2. Instead of ducking Rothwell, he fights him on his return and beats him (most people forget how well Ben was doing- maybe his worst HW machup)
3. Beats DC

he does all of those, he passes Fedor JDS and Cain in my mind as the best

I love Stipe and will root for him to do it, but he will not overtake Fedor. He definitely has a ways to go and I do not believe he will keep the title long enough. He's really good, but odds are someone will probably get him within his next 2 or 3 fights.

I think his next few fights will set his legacy.

We've seen that he can knockout the old dogs but can he also beat the up-and-comers and future guys like Volkov, Blaydes, Ivanov, etc?

DC will be a huge feather in his cap, but once again he's 40 years old.

It'll be if (or when) Stipe beats down some of the younger prime guys that really puts him up there.

Henderson is like 5-9. He’s practically a welterweight.
He is also one of the greatest fighters of all time and one of the most powerful punchers of all time. At least losing to Hendo is not as bad as losing to Serra or Struve

He is one of the greats. However there are a lot of questionable victories and terrible losses on the resume of this supposed greatest fighter of all time. All of those losses are washed away and all of those terrible opponents are also washed away. There is some much nostalgia surrounding this Russian it is a bit much..

Holy sh... Sumrock I was actually believin´ ya... How come?

Go back in time and face shit competition or fighters who are just starting to understand what mma is.

I feel like right now, the UFC doesn't have clear #2 & 3s like Crocop/Nogueira that Stipe could thoroughly dominate to cement his GOATness.

Although, I feel a little hypocritical saying that because Werdum beat Fedor & Nog and lost to Stipe. Is Werdum in GOAT talks?? I don't know! Werdum has alot of randomness to his career, kind of like Overeem.

In conclusion, beat DC, and Werdum again OR clearly beat Jones once. Anyone who beats Jones jumps straight to GOAT in my book.
