Incoming casualties of the Tariff War...

Not hating, just genuinely questioning his reasoning for doing this. You haven't offered any explanation, just cheer-leading. Can you recommend an economics book that shows why Trump's tarriffs are going to be awesome, because most economists in the media seem to think it could all go very badly for all parties involved.

So how does this help the blue collar workers who voted for him? Automation and AI won't create masses of jobs, it'll create a few for people with fancy college degrees. The US gov won't get toppled, but the current administration might. He's already fucked the farmers who sell to China, he needs to keep voters if he wants to get past 2020.

That’s what I am say partially here is that doing this so early is a huge pre-ejaculation for his base. Using rhetoric in the run up to 2020 would feed red meat to his base.

Going back to the US can outlast China comment. The Chinese government need a strong US economy at this point in order to maintain some value on US debt they owe.

China economy is slowing down and a lot people believe they are a paper dragon and any major slow down will emphasis this. They do as much as they can to keep a lid on discontent but if they tank the middle class they may be seeing a larger revolt than student uprising in the 80’s.

I am a musician playing mostly bass in a folk jam band on Moog synthesizers. They just sent out an email asking us to write to the relevant politicians asking to stand against some of these tariffs as they will cause a 25% increase in the cost of synths.

Moog is an American company that employs Americans and pays a very fair wage to employees. This is really going to hurt them. They are a niche company at the high end of quality and price.

They said they may have to move production overseas......
Nothing But A G Thang was made on a Moog. It pains me to think if these tariffs happened 30 years ago we may not have gotten one of the best hip hop songs ever made.

China economy is slowing down.

Is it really? on absolute terms they seem to be growing as fast as ever.

Their incoming population implosion could do them though.

Slowing down in terms of growth, which is expected but it is still slowing down. The issue is can the Chinese adjust to this expect slow down.

Looking st the last 7 years, 2017 is the first time there was an increase from the previous year.

Growth is usually reported as a percentage, that doesnt means an slow down, it simply means that the amount growth is a smaller percentage of the total economic output, not that they are slowing down.
