So this years International Rules Series (Ireland vs Australia, best of 3) is underway, probably should have made a thread earlier as the first game is already over, but better late than never.
Basically it's a hybrid sport between Gaelic Football and Australian Football (probably slightly closer to Gaelic football tbh) that was created to allow Irish and Australian players to represent their country in what are normally both very localised sports.
Some fans of each code view it as a bit of a gimmicky sideshow with no importance, but personally I like the game. It's an interesting (and exciting) curiosity and the players like to get the chance to represent their country.
Here's highlights of game one:
Hope the Irish can pull it back in the next game, in 2015 they only played one game which Ireland won.
