The Soviet Union landed 23 probes on the moon. China, Japan, and India have also landed probes on the moon. The Soviets could have done it in due time. Their issue at the time was rocket engines. Today, Russia has the best rocket engines in the world. NASA is buying a few of them. The USSR did put the first satellite and man in space. Oh boy. Yes. If you get a strong enough telescope you can still see all the junk the Americans left on the surface of the moon. The lander (6), the rover, and the American flag are still there. There were 6 missions from the U.S. that landed on the moon with astronauts, all under the Apollo program. Not to mention the rock samples that were brought back.

Yes, because it actually happened. Even the Russians at the time said it did, and they were the people on earth least likely to say 'Good Job' to the US. Its been proven time and time again that it happened, theories as to it being fake have been debunked over and over again. Its no longer up for debate, and it never really was.
