A couple of times i have tried to get in to football. I really do find it so boring though.
I really do think it is a tribal/sociable thing though which is why its so popular. I can just about get in to the world cup every few years and that's ok, but what I notice is, everyone comes together supporting their country and genuinely seem in a better mood (if we win mind you).
Which to me at least, confirms my guess of the sociable aspect.
The guys I have known who are really in to football, will meet up food maybe then a long night of drinking. So win or lose they still have had a night out with like minded friends.

Nah. Its simplistic, easy to teach and learn and inexpensive to play.

Yeah, because it's so simple and accessible, it's very hard to actually be good at it.

Kinda like boxing. Every adult and most children can ball up their fists and hit another person, but to actually be really good at it takes a huge amount of work and repetition.
