It's a great country to live as long you understand the culture and go with it, I been lucky enough to travel a bit to different countries from south America to Europe and most countries are ok to live in.
The main issue is getting used to the local culture and understanding that you are in a foreign country

that's a personal choice to be made by each individual.

I would say no, but some people really like certain things the US has to offer. I don't personally get their logic, and as an American citizen am inclined to do what I can to change some of those things, but they like it and would probably say that as long as America is as it is, that they think it's the best.

however, if you're looking at certain statistics only (IE: inequality, annual income, literacy etc...) then no, it's not.
