Is your fandom or lack thereof for WMMA tied to your political beliefs?

I'd be happy to say they're terrible and ruining the shows I watch, but they don't.

I feel like HWs are just as likely to deliver a bad fight, as the women are.

MMA has made a few female stars, and I won't deny some of the fights are awful too. As long as UFC keeps their women's fights to stars and fights with title implications, I'm fine with it, and will probably enjoy most of it.

Socially libertarian, fiscally slight right-of-center. I like most WMMA and WSW is probably one of my top 3 favorite divisions right now.

Somes they bring it, sometimes they don’t; just like the guys, just let em bang. I like how easy it is to follow too; you really just need to follow UFC, Invicta, LFA and Bellator and you’ve got like 90% of all WMMA fighters right there, so it’s a lot easier to get to know the prospects coming up compared to the guys

A great deal of MMA fans are straight up bigots, xenophobes and sexist. Why keep denying it. It's like one of the reasons people consider MMA and it's fans a joke. It's like everyone is aware, except MMA fans. Well, you're aware. Just not man, or woman enough to own your messes.

Possibly the best post I have read here.

Thank you.

Everyone’s answers is that they’re incredibly boring to watch like every sports they participate in (reason why stadiums are always empty) but one of the biggest reason is because it feels completely unnatural watching women bashing each other’s heads off. It just doesn’t feel right, it can be off puting and we’re not wired to see that.

They participate in MMA and in order to keep their body fresh and tough, they neither get married (maybe after retirement or at a relatively old age) nor have children. Look at Holly, Cyborg, Ronda or others. That’s messed up. Women needs to know their roles, their future and their fragile bodies first before persuing a career as an MMA fighter because there will be consequence.
You’re talking out your arse.
Just off the top of my head I know that Waterson and zingano had children and are/were married.

I'd be kind of interested to see what the political leanings of people who hate and bash WMMA are compared to those that watch it and support it.

If you hate it... are you one of those conservative "women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen" types. Or the conservative "women shouldn't be fighting; you are sick if you enjoy watching women fight" types that vote for Republicans.

Or maybe if you whole heartedly support WMMA because of your liberal disposition. Maybe even supporting low quality WMMA fights because you are an SJW and voted for Hillary.

Bottom line is, how tied to your personal politics is your support or lack of support for WMMA? What do you think the correlation is in general?

I never thought about it.
Interesting topic.
I think women have the right to fight MMA & support it, but I think UFC pushed it ahead of where the talent currently lies at
If they kept it only 115 & 135, we would have two stronger divisions to build off

Very selective with wmma fights there a lot of boring point fighting going on there with weak techniques. Looking forward to nunes vs cyborg tho.

I'm a leftie even by Danish standards, so ...

And I do support wmma. Fan of Ronda. Doesn't mean I can't see that there's a skill gap between men and women - as is the case in probably every single sport out there. Doesn't mean it's not entertaining, doesn't mean it shouldn't be promoted.

I'm conservative and against all bullshit that comes with the pathetic people that bring the socialist attitude. I don't like wmma because the lack of skill and also I really don't like when women hit each other, even though I don't want to stop them from doing it. I just don't want to see it and I don't really know why. I'm for super equality (justified and real equality, no feminism...) but don't want to see wmma as I don't want to see women football either, because it's awful

I'm far-left.

I like WMMA because the divisions are shallower. Men fight twice a year and there's tons per division. Too many people to follow, too hard to rank them.

Some of the low level WMMA fights are terrible for sure. Some are a lot of fun. There seems to be a lot less point-fighting in WMMA.

How many of the people that dislike WMMA, also dislike mens HW MMA? Anyone?

Because the talent level at HW is way lower than at LW... and I hear people say they dislike WMMA for that reason, but no one ever really says they dislike mens HW for that reason.

It's just less interesting to me usually. But sometimes there is a story line that gets my attention. Flyweight Male MMA is also not interesting to me.
