ISIS, Iraq, Syria

It seems like only a small unit of what are being called special forces soliders from outside entered Dez, meaning the siege isn't fully broken. Either way it'll likey be official within a day or two.

The seige has not been lifted, but that hasn't stopped the party in the streets of Deir Ezzor from erupting.

Apparently an airborne unit infiltrated behind ISIS lines of defense and took out the Daeshbags who had surrounded Brigade 137's HQ in Deir Ezzor. The Syrian Arab Army units (who have been under siege for 3 years) that are still in Deir Ezzor then recaptured all the positions that they had lost previously to ISIS around the HQ. This led to the premature reports of the siege being broken. It is not. However it will be broken in due time.

No word yet as to the nationality of the airborne unit who took out ISIS at Brigade 137, but the scuttlebutt is that the VDV may have finally made an appearance in this conflict.

Either way it seems that if soldiers from the outside can make their way into Dez that it'll only be a day or two before a land route is established.

The siege is as good as broken. ISIS knows it won't be able to hold it, and they can only retreat from this point on.

In another news, Britain has withdrawn the last of its military trainers for Syrian rebels. Syrian Civil War is far from being over, but eventual regime victory is basically assured at this point. Looks like it's the end of the line for whougonnacall's Al-Qaeda cousins.

We could have wiped out ISIS a long time ago. Clearly we don't want to.

Yeah but it's cheaper to give third world militiamen weapons, and airstrikes, and to make them do all the fighting.

The mass influx of refugees, destabilization and empowering other superpowers is not cheaper.

Since 2003, what do you guys think? Is this like thread version 1,327?

15 years and we are worse off in the ME today than we were then. #winning?

A horrible religion and every world power wants to exert some form of control. Awful situation.

The US should allow zero immigration from the ME. It just isn't worth the risk, and there is virtually zero benefit.

Nusra attack against regime forces in eastern Hama ends up a dud and they lose both of their T-90's. One captured and one destroyed by a APFSDS fired by a regime T-72.
