Jon Jones is being given too much "due process"

Because 99% of fighters in Jones' position wouldn't be able to play the game like this. USADA should have policies to prevent these situations, because at this point Jon Jones should be ready for arbitration. If his team isn't ready for arbitration right now, then they shouldn't be allowed to delay a decision any more.

Why is that? I haven't been following this - what is he doing that is different from what anyone else can do?

He's not allowed to fight during this, so I'm not following what the issue is.

@dimspace what is going on re: "Oregon" regarding USADA? I did a quick google search and nothing jumped out, I'm curious!

TS is just blowing air. Jones can take as long as he likes, the dude is serving a suspension. Kicking the can down the road for official adjudication makes no difference to USADA and ultimately arbitration is with a third party. This thread is about nothing.

malki basically trying to imply that usada think jones is innocent...

i wouldnt believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
Yeah, he's definitely putting his spin on the situation.

he can do anything he wants just fine. he not in jail he just cheated in sports and has to pay the price for that.

if he wants to get in his car and go get milk he can.
He will be back in the octagon elbowing fools in no time

yeh.. ultimately hes suspended while all this goes on so IF jones team are delaying it does no good.

but totally agree with his argument about time limits.. for the various reasons explained

By now it's more like post-due process.

Worst case scenario really is 3 years because it's a retroactive suspension and already been a year

This situation with Jones is ridiculous. It's so patently obvious what is going on. USADA have already come down with their decision, and offered him a suspension. If he chooses, he can go to arbitration -- and that's what we are waiting for. The last time Jones had arbitration it was publicised (link below), so we know he hasn't gone to arbitration yet!!

Thus, the strategy becomes clear: Jon Jones' team are just delaying this in perpetuity, trying to come up with any tangential excuse they can for his positive test -- and they are hoping that USADA cave and offer him a lesser suspension, under pressure from his lawyers.

This is blatantly unfair, as the vast majority of other fighters do not have access to this much "due process". This isn't the legal system -- Jon Jones has no constitutional rights to exploit the system. USADA should close this absurd loophole and put a mandatory period of 6 months for arbitration cases, after which USADA automatically unilaterally imposes their decision.

What they should do is tell him that his 4 years begins when he cuts the BS and accepts the punishment.

When's the next legit hearing?

Shoot... by the time this is all said and done the guy will be retroactive for a possible next failed sample...

At this point Jon can be cleared of all his roid use and fight in the near future. In reality he will screw stuff up again as his past history has proven us. Hopefully mma moves on from him and new contenders provides us with goat status blood we can root for.

USADA just cleared Jon Jones

USADA just cleared Jon Jones
He's not cleared. He has to serve 15 months and he gets 30 months suspended if he keeps cooperating (aka snitching). He's effectively on parole, if he screws up then the remaining 30 months can be reinstated.

10.6 Elimination, Reduction, or Suspension of Period of Ineligibility or other Consequences for Reasons Other than Fault 10.6.1 Substantial Assistance in Discovering or Establishing AntiDoping Policy Violations 10.6.1.1 USADA in its sole discretion may suspend all or part of the period of Ineligibility and other Consequences imposed in an individual case in which it has results management authority where the Athlete or other Person has provided Substantial Assistance to USADA or another Anti-Doping Organization, criminal authority or professional disciplinary body which results in: (i) USADA or another Anti-Doping Organization discovering or bringing forward an Anti-Doping Policy Violation by another Person and the information provided by the Person providing Substantial Assistance is made available to USADA, or (ii) which results in a criminal or disciplinary body discovering or bringing forward a criminal offense or the breach of professional rules committed by another Person and the information provided by the Person providing Substantial Assistance is made available to USADA.
