It wasn't planned, I had just woken up and realized that I hadn't eaten in a while. Just decided on a spur of the moment to try a 24hr fast. GSP and Rogan were talking about it. I have been trying to eat less to help lose weight.

Did I do it right and will this fuck up my metabolism? Honestly, part of why I did it was mentally. I watch that show I Survived and there are people who don't eat for weeks at a time. What do you REALLY know about yourself if you don't push/test limits every now and again? Or am I just a fucking idiot?

Edit: It really wasn't that bad. Slight stomach pains, but not unbearable. GSP and Rogan were talking about conditioning your body to eat and stuff like that. Made sense. Your body doesn't have to eat every X hours, you've just been conditioned to do it.

You’re going to put on 5 pounds just by looking at a milk shake now.

And forget about your sex drive, son.

Consider being a eunuch.

Don't think I'll ever try fasting, but, hey, a man should always be up for trying something new once in a while, so good for you. Cool that you pulled it off and I guess it could be helpful in dealing with the urge to snack all the time that you know from experience you can actually go a long time without sustenance.

Congrats.

Now do IF for a month.

You're not going to fuck up your metabolism. I did a three-day fast a couple of months ago. After the first day, it's pretty easy. The key for me was keeping busy and not interrupting my schedule for it. Doing a fast here and there is great for weight loss.

You won't do anything negative to your metabolism on a 24 hour fast.

I'm confident that humans didn't spend their entire history eating 3 square meals a day.

During chemo treatments I would go a week without eating. Sometimes more.

When my appetite returned I went cookie monster on every bit of food around me.

Technically no, you didn't do it right. You want to fast for a period then eat for a duration. Meaning, if you fast 18 hours then you have a timed eating of 6 hours, but the fast duration and the timed eating should be the same each day. In other words, you don't want to just fast 24 hours. This is something you would do for months at a time, some people do this every day for years. They say you should work up to it. So in other words you might start with eating from noon till 8pm, then fast from 8pm to noon, which is 16 hour fast. Then when your body adjusts you might fast from 6pm to noon, then eat from noon to 6pm which is a 18 hour fast. Some people go all the way to a fast of 20 hours and an eating window of 4 hours.

Here is the thing though, the only way fasting works is if you don't have any spikes in your blood sugar/insulin levels and almost anything can cause that to happen. For example, if you drink coffee in the morning, sugar in your coffee will break your fast. Creamer in your coffee will break your fast because your body has an insulin reaction to those things, so for a true fast its black coffee only.

I had to do it for a colonoscopy. It was the worst.

True, but a lot of them didn’t sit around all day surfing the Internet or playing video games either. (As I post this sitting at my table, having finished a steak breakfast.)

I didn't believe you, but I tried jerking off towards the end, and MAN, that shit was difficult. Even with the help of the world's best pornography. Didn't tie it together til now.

Well done..

Now go 24 hrs without masturbating.. if you complete that you are on your way to next level shit ..

I fast every single day. Didnt even start doing it intentionally just kind of fell into it and dont like eating during the day anymore.

I only eat at 2am-4am right before bed.

I did it only once, years ago, in college. I needed to take a 6 hours trip to another city for some document. I haven't eaten or drank anything in the last 12 hours (at night) woke up, got in a bus, arrived, took the document, and back in the bus. No water or food until then. And then I though "what if I don't eat nothing the entire day". And I did. I arrived home, didn't eat anything, slept and ate next day at noon. Over 36 hours. I felt tired, dehydrated, but no stomach pains and felt lighter. Also, in the morning, after the trip, I wasn't that hungry.

There are many fasting protocols, including a weekly 24 hour fast. 16 - 8 protocol is only one of them.

24 hour fasts are fine.

You're second para is mostly on point (although some ppl say even black coffee / green tea will break your fast, but I haven't read any research on that so I'm unsure).

To the TC, fasting has a lot of benefits besides weight loss. Does take a bit getting used to though.

Personally, I prefer Restricted eating, which is basically a 12 hour fast, and a 12 hour eating window. I'm not anal about it though and I'll eat whenever.
