Khabib Nurmegamedov v Dillon Danis in Submission Grappling....

No striking?

Danis by heel hook or some exotic set-up.

do you consider Khabib a true specialist?

by that i mean he has seemingly melded black belt level Judo/Sambo, eliteish Freestyle wrestling chops, and I'm guessing at this point at least brown to black belt level BJJ in to a submission grappling style that we've only seen with GSP, and Fedor.

That said every time we see an "elite" MMA grappler sub wrestle an elite competition BJJ black belt they seem to get easily tooled even monsters like Palhares, Jake Shields, Rory Mac, Ben Henderson all seem to lose kinda easily???

Danis by heel hook, most likely. Pure grappling is a very different game, everything Khabib does is premised on controlling and striking. If you don't have to worry about the strikes his game is going to be a lot less effective.

I consider Khabib an MMA grappler, his skills are based solely on the ability to strike and receive strikes so his positioning and strategy and not to mention his go-to moves all take this into consideration.

Pure grappling or submission tournaments IMO, should rightfully give points to dominant positions as we see success in MMA often reveals why the original positional hierarchy was even put in place.

I'll get Tim Spriggs to mop the floor with Danis again.

Danis by sub. Khabib has a nice game for MMA, winning rounds with top control and strikes, but you can work a lot more without strikes being involved

Important question here are we talking about sub only or points? I I think khabib can get on top and ride him out positionally but sub only I got Dillon

Palhares did rather well on at ADCC. Jake Shield did well in some sub only tournaments (weaker people trying to open up and go after Sheild got crushed)

danis wouldnt sub him and would probably lose on points depending on the ruleset

khabib is an ellite all arond grappler, danis could win, but so could khabib...

I thought Palhares and Jake Shields were high level BJJ.

Danis lost to shields. I would think at this stage in his career Khabib would beat Dani’s is a grappling match.

I think Danis but you never know. Remember he's spent years in there with Marcelo. I don't think Khabib is throwing anything at him he hasn't seen before.

That match isn't a great barometer though. Danis took the regulation but lost in OT by maybe 10 seconds of faster escapes after 3 EBI overtime rounds. It's a match worth running back actually.

yeah but khabibs been grappling since he was born with good coaches i use to think that unless you are a bjj purist with your grappling your gonna get destroyed but isnt the truth with khabibs insane control and strength alone.

i think iif he found himself losing he could easily stall his way to victory and just stay on top and not let dillion get to his legs hes also good with leg locks himself it isnt like hes gonna be a fish out of water if dillion grabs a leg

They are

Just seems like the best of competition BJJ beats some money or MMA grapples take Lombard for example

Elite all around grapples obv copious use of steroids aside I've seen him get finished a couple of times in sub grappling matches

This would be a lot closer than most people think. I can see Khabib winning on points.
