I don't think Trump's pardon powers are as broad as people think. Specifically, if impeached, he can't pardon anyone. Additionally Trump cannot pardon anyone that is linked to his impeachment or to his obstruction of justice charges. If I recall correctly, Trump cannot pardon anyone charged with civil contempt.

Bear in mind, if pardoned, those pardoned would no longer be protected by the 5th. Congress could then subpoena those individuals, and if they refuse to testify smack them with civil contempt charges.

Ultimately, my guess is any pardon attempt would probably end up in the supreme court.
